Plovdiv is incredible, one of my favorite cities in Europe. There is so much to see in the old town, and the residents of Plovdiv are so nice and relaxed. The highlight of Bulgaria, for me.
I went to Plovdiv in the winter and it was pretty boring from a young person's perspective, as well as quite gloomy (and freezing). But there are a few sights, although they looked totally deserted. It was somewhat depressing.
Hikers Hostel Plovdiv in Plovdiv The best hostel I have ever stayed in. Small, cozy, clean, cool, with good atmosphere; friendly, welcoming and very helpful staff; free internet, cold beer. Great location in the middle of the old town, a nice terrasse (and I think they let you sleep in there in the summer if the dorms are full). I have not seen the property down the street that also belongs to the hostel but from what I've seen I have nothing then the best to say about this hostel. I am sure anyone who will stay there will enjoy it as much as I did.
Hostel Sportna Sreshta in Plovdiv Really nice!! Good atmosphere, good location, and the owner is very nice and helpful and talkative!! The breakfast is all right and the price is good.
Hikers Hostel Plovdiv in Plovdiv Really nice -- the staff are excellent, and although it rained for a whole day, it was a relaxing and comfortable place to hang out. The location is perfect (although you'll need to take advantage of the pick-up service from the station), and the cosy attic was one of the best private rooms we've encountered. Very much recommended!
Hikers Hostel Plovdiv in Plovdiv convienient location. great staff. fast computer (free). tasty (free) breakfast. nice terrace. one of the best/cosiest hostelz i have been to in all of europe. it's not as complicated to get there as the directions sound, easiest though, just take a taxi -- 1.5 Euro maximum (don't pay more!).
Hikers Hostel Plovdiv in Plovdiv Hikers' Hostel is by far one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in, and definitely made my stay in Plovdiv one of my best in Eastern Europe. When I arrived in Plovdiv, I had booked with another hostel. After wandering around the ancient part of the city, I stumbled upon this hostel. I took a look inside, and immediately moved the next day. I ended up staying one night longer than I had planned, and as a result, showed up a day late to another hostel I had reserved. The staff are so friendly and so helpful, I know I will go back.
Raisky Kat Hostel in Plovdiv I took a double room to myself. It was like staying in a small private hotel rather than a hostel. Only drawback was the toilet/shower room, which isn't great, but it could certainly be worse. Lovely location, very warm and helpful proprietor -- who speaks fantastic English -- and lovely dog and cat, too! I would be happy to come back to this hostel, and in fact I may soon be doing just that.
Hostel Sportna Sreshta in Plovdiv Really nice place to stay. It was very comfortable and the staff were helpful and friendly.
Hostel Sportna Sreshta in Plovdiv Great place to stay, just a stone's throw away from all the action. The building is old, the stairs creak, but the atmosphere is so good that nobody cares. Sometimes it's staffed by older people who don't speak a word of any language other than Bulgarian. The bar/cafe/restaurant downstairs is great.
Raisky Kat Hostel in Plovdiv The facilities are pretty average (especially the bathroom which was really grotty...the toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned for years). The family who run it are, however, really lovely and helpful and make one feel at home. What raises it from a 3 star to 4 star rating is the location. It's a short walk up the hill to the heart of the 'old town' and also very close to the other sights. I'd definitely stay here again if I was back in Plovdiv.
Hikers Hostel Plovdiv in Plovdiv I liked this place a lot. dorms were comfy. Good location easy to find and easy to walk to everything you want to do. Owners were really nice and friendly and helpful. Free internet. Not a very good kitchen set up at all. the attitude and friendliness make it a four star instead of three.
Hikers Hostel Plovdiv in Plovdiv Good location, very friendly English speaking staff, and they sell cheap beer. It rained non stop whilst we were in Plovdiv, and the rain did get inside the hostel through the holes in the wall where the cables came in. However we did apparently experience the worst weather they have had in Plovdiv for two and a half years, so I expect this was a one off.
Hostel Sportna Sreshta in Plovdiv This place had loads of atmosphere. I never had a problem. It's a great hostel to meet fellow travelers. We arrived late at night and had no troubles. I highly recommend it.
