Posada Wiphala in Tilcara … This is a realy nice hostel, or posada, where I felt better than at home. It's very small and the manager is very friendly.
Posada Wiphala in Tilcara … This is a cool place to drop in for a few days. Good rooms and showers.
HI - Jujuy - Humahuaca - Posada El Sol Hostel in Humahuaca … The owners are very friendly. You stay in cabins, either in dorms which have around six beds upstairs and down, or your own cabin. It has a really peaceful, rustic atmosphere. Excellent!
HI - Jujuy - Tilcara - Malka Hostel in Tilcara … I was in this hostel for five days in January 2005. The place itself is gorgeous, a group of small wooden cabins scattered up above a hill, facing the village of Tilcara. I stayed in spacious room for three — well heated, with private bathroom and the most comfortable wooden bed with cozy mattress and warm blankets I've ever slept in when staying in a hostel. However expensive for a hostel, the facilities are worth the money, especially considering the lavish breakfast included in the price. Now, the big question is what you're looking for. If you long for fun, party, or at least socializing with fellow travelers, forget this place. There are no common spaces at all, and nothing there encourages one to meet other people. The place is as quiet as a library, and I would say it's more like an ordinary hotel than a hostel; there's no kitchen, no Internet access and not even a fridge!!! The front desk closes at ten o'clock, and the staff vanishes until the following morning. I wonder…
Posada Wiphala in Tilcara … It doesn't live up to what you expect from the guide book (Footprint, Third edition). We understand that this is because it has changed hands. The new management is not welcoming. The prices have gone up (to seventy pesos for a double, although we were told the normal rate was one hundred pesos) and it is room only -- no kitchen facilities, no dining room, the garden is untidy, and the pool is empty. On the plus side, the rooms have been renovated tastefully and the beds are very comfortable. But the floors are filthy and the shower does not drain. The owner's attitude was not welcoming. We had been told by the staff when we arrived that use of the kitchen was allowed. But after we bought food to cook, the owner told us that there was no gas and even if there had been, use of the kitchen was not allowed. When complained to the owner about the misleading description and the information we had been given (including by her staff) she did not appear to care.
