Friendly and cheap -- an excellent experience A friendly hostel, well organised. Excellent food, especially on New Year's Eve. My vegetarian friend had pretty decent food considering this is France; and the hostel was also catering for a vegan as well as five vegetarians, and so had to come up with some dairy-free options. The staff worked really hard to make us all feel welcome. Well located close to the bus stop to Tignes Le Lac -- buses now improved so that it's easy to get up to (and back from) Tignes for the New Year celebrations. Rooms are comfortable, bathrooms are fine but starting to show signs of age. No online booking, so be prepared for faxing and telephone conversations.

Excellent We stayed there for about a week for summer skiing. Nice crew, excellent prices and foods. The hostel was very clean too. Just a bit far from tignes center, but it takes ten minutes by car to get there.

Don't stay here if you are a vegetarian -- even though it's 2007 and this is an international youth hostel in a major resort, they were totally unwilling to accommodate the three veggies in our group (and were pretty unfriendly and unhelpful about it with the exception of one guy who covered a shift in the kitchen midweek) which really rather spoilt our holiday. Overall the hostel is ok but we were also disappointed by the showers (push button type lasting for only one minute each time, too hard to stand under, sporadically hot and cold), the lack of a comfy communal room (the school style dining room/ bar area was available but not terribly appealing), the stuffiness of the rooms (had to sleep with the balcony door wide open in -10 so that we didn't all suffocate), and the fact that we were often kept awake by loud music/people slamming their way back into the hostel as the rooms are directly above the bar/ main entrance. The hostel is well situated for the buses up to the resort but the last one back is at midnight (even on new years eve) and it's a long walk home at that time (hitching sometimes possible but taxi's were hard to come by). The packed lunches are quite good and the evening meal is fairly decent as long as you eat meat, breakfast was a bit limited and only really for those with a sweet tooth. They did go to a lot of trouble over the food on new years eve with five courses provided -- but not well timed if you want to attend any celebrations in the main resort (highly likely as not much happens in Les Boisses) due to the lack of buses. We had to miss the main course to get the 2245 bus. Also a bit of a shame that you could only make hot drinks at limited times (with meals and between 6 and 7) and then there was no hot chocolate (only provided at breakfast time).

I stayed here this March and the hostel is the perfect combination of comfort and cheapness! Considering all your meals are included, you're staying two minutes from the slopes and the hostel itself is comfortably furnished, this is the best place to stay in Tignes!

Really friendly, EXCEPTIONALLY generous portions of food and good fun. The only thing is that it can get a bit smelly with all the ski-gear about but hey, that's an occupational hazard in the mountains!!

I've stayed at this auberge de jeunesse in Tignes three times now, and have always had an excellent time. The food is fantastic - better than any chalet or hotel I've stayed at in Tignes, and the staff are fantastic, no moody chalet girls here! They also provide a huge packed lunch I could never finish. Rooms are comfortable, again, bigger than most hotels and chalets I've stayed in, and each one is en-suite with plenty of hot water. And you've got a balcony. Beers are cheap, €1.70, if I remember correctly. A true hidden gem - don't tell anyone about the place, infact, I'm wondering why I'm spreading the word myself...
