HI - Rennes Centre International de Sejour Rennes Hostel is lovely and prettily set on the banks of the canal in an older house that seems to have been renovated and converted into a youth hostel by adding extensions. It displays a mix of modern and old architecture and design. It is very clean and well kept and has a really nice, spacious, well-organised, and clean self-catering kitchen. And it also has very, very nice and friendly staff.
The Location
The hostel is quite far away from train station (walking or cycling) and not too easy to find -- but worth it. It is within easy walking distance of the old city centre and major tourist venues. Located directly on banks of canal, it has a very pleasant atmosphere in quiet surrounds.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel has lovely, spacious yet small dorms with clean new floor coverings and good mattresses. The furniture is fairly new. At least one room has only single beds -- no bunks -- and an en-suite shower and wash basin, toilets on the corridor. No single rooms are available.
Common Spaces
Smoking is not allowed inside building. There is a beautiful, modern, clean bar and breakfast room. A little sitting room area with comfy chairs leads into the bar and breakfast room. Internet is available and the hostel also has a very good self-catering kitchen.
Summary
It's a really lovely, well-kept, clean, and friendly hostel in a beautiful town and with very friendly staff. We would highly recommend it to anyone.
