The Hostelz.com Review
Cis de Champagne is hosts corporate workers, traveling teams, or groups of people and backpackers.
The Location
The hostel is not located in the center of the city, so you have to walk a little to get there. From the city's center it takes about fifteen minutes by foot. The CIS is very big and there are always groups of people walking to and from the city.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel offers private and dorm rooms, all of which are locked with electronic keys. They don't have in-room lockers, but there is a luggage storing room. There are bunk beds and twin beds available. Some rooms have a private toilet and shower but it is more expensive that way. There is always a common toilet room and shower room in each floor. The private showers are not very well designed and it is difficult not to spill water outside the shower area.
Common Spaces
The hostel has a number of different common areas, from outside benches and tables to conference rooms and inside sitting areas. There is no kitchen but all prices include breakfast. The hostel is usually booked by companies and traveling sports teams but there is also young backpackers. It is easy to meet people if you hang out in the conference rooms, which also serve as common rooms in the evening, but this is not a very sociable hostel. The atmosphere is mostly indifferent.
Summary
Cis de Champagne is actually the only hostel in Reims, so it is always booked, but it is not a very friendly place, although it is safe. It is not exactly a hostel so it is not necessarily warm as hostels tend to be. It is just a place to stay the night.

Having stayed here twice I found the food good, the rooms clean and spacious, the en-suite very convenient and the staff very obliging and friendly. It is abovr the average standard of this type of hostel
and is very cheap and convenient. Excellent conference and reception facilities. — Steven Wassell (2005-12-12)

Comfortable and clean, although if you want food I suggest you don't eat in the restaurant because the food was absolutely rubbish. Also, the guy who owns it doesn't like any noise at all, so if you are in your rooms you can't make much noise. — Will (2005-02-21)

I was actually surprised that this hostel was a bit better than most HIs, though it still had the large, group-oriented feel. It has nice rooms, which are really cheap. It's probably the best I could ask for in an HI hostel, so I can't complain. — Anonymous (2004-07-22)
I visited this hotel with my school in England. It was ok, but not great. There could have been more to do in our rooms and in the hotel itself. The tv was ok -- I liked the game shows. The only thing I didn't like was the number of other people there and not being allowed to make much noise. Also I'm a vegetarian and there weren't many choices in vegetarian food. — English Girl (2004-06-09)

Clean and comfortable, but not a good place to meet other travellers. Mostly it was just workers and students there when I stayed (and a few dodgy people). It does have great facilities (kitchen, TV room) and is close to town. It would be fine if you are the sort of person who doesn't want to meet anyone and doesn't mind being hit on by dodgy men! — Emma (2004-01-19)
