Lovely situation and charming and helpful staff. Great value for money. I shall certainly come back, and visitors to this area should look no further...you will not find anywhere nicer.

The owner, Maleewan cannot do enough for you. She picked us up from the bus stop, took us to the border and arranged the slow boat for us. She is the friendliest and most helpful lady we have come across. Great for socialising.

Everything! Its a toss up whether the best feature is the superb riverside and rural location or the exceptionally friendly, informative and helpful people who run the place. One of the best places we have stayed in during an extensive travelling career. But a word of warning - most people stay here only one night on their way to Laos - if you don't book more nights you will regret it.

The owners are super helpful, they take you through all the options for visiting Laos. There is a really relaxed self service and pay later system that makes you feel at home. Considering this is described as a stop over place ee were surprised at the amazing views from the rooms and there is enough to do to stay a couple of days. The owners have told us about many guests staying for up to three months! The town is very sleepy at night though, don't expect a party! There are free bikes to use too.

Maleewan (the owner) was incredible. She spoke extremely good English and made us feel very welcome. There was a real 'family' feel to the place. There's free (and fast!) Wi-Fi and a computer for those without a laptop or smartphone. The location of the guesthouse is perfect and they even take you down to the pier in the morning if you want to make the crossing before a ride down to Luang Prabang. Me and my girlfriend had an amazing stay here. It was so peaceful looking out over the river from our balcony (we seemed to have the best room). It was very cheap to stay here and the food/drink in the guesthouse is great (and fairly cheap too).

Its easy to find if from the bus drop you off in Chiang Kong. The manager, she was really amazing women. She helped me a lot for my fast boat to Luang Prabang. The bicyles is a free ride if you want to explore the town. The dish at the restaurant is delicious. Best place to meet traveler. And its facing the Mekong River, do you need to ask for more?

WOW - What a place, one of the best on the trip so far. Our host is amazing, we had booked late the night before but she was there waiting on us coming off us the bus from Chaing Mai with tuk tuks even though its only a 5 minute walk. It is very cheap here both for the room and food (which is very tasty). We loved the honesty system whereby you keep your on tab, very nice idea. The location is right on the Mekong River and is pretty impressive waking upto. We booked our slow boat here too and it all went smoothly, she organised a lift for us to the port and stayed with us explaining everything and even had someone over at the Laos side to meet us, take us in a tuk tuk to the port where we would get the slow boat. All in all a great place to stay and I would love to return someday.

This place has beautiful views out over the river and the couple that run it couldnt be more friendly and helpful. The food available is really tasy and very reasonably priced; as are the drinks. They pick you up from the bus stop even though its not too far and they also drop you at imigration. Very pleased with the stay all together.

Don is helpful and friendly, you get a lift to immigration/ferry if you are crossing to Laos, nice location overlooking the river, laid-back relaxed atmosphere, food from the restaurant was nice and reasonably priced - especially the pineapple curry

An excellent guesthouse. Situated on the bank of the Mekong and just outside the main town. Rooms are basic but comfortable, same with the bathrooms. The female owner was really nice and helpful, she was able to book a ticket on the boat to Luang Prabang for me, and also dropped us all off at the dock in the morning in her pick up truck for free. There is a seated area overlooking the river, and is a great place to have a beer and they do food as well that is really nice. If you're passing through Chiang Khong on your way to Laos (or vice-versa) then only stay here. Oh, and if you are coming from Chiang Mai, then ask your driver t drop you here rather than in the town as it's a bit of a pain walking with your backpack trying to find it, especially in the dark!

I liked everything about Baanrimtaling Guest House. The owners went out of their way to make me comfortable and we chatted through the dinner hour from their open-air deck restaurant as we watched life float by on the Mekong River. The room was comfortable and a good value for the money; especially since it was ensuite. It was an easy walk to town and the owners made a special early morning drive to Immigation so I could cross over to Laos in time to catch my boat tour. The place has a very serene feel to it - so much so that I am considering returning on a long-term basis. With their free, fast wifi Internet available in the room, it may just be the perfect place to finish a book I've been working on.

Quiet location just outside of the center. The small guesthouse has a very cosy atmosphere because of the house itself and the garden around the house. Staff is very friendly and helpfull

Sitting on a balcony overlooking the Mekong with the mist on the river, good food comfy bed and friendly people around. Very kind and extremely helpfull Malaween took care of everything from booking tickets for boat and ahead to Pak beng for overnight stay. Even took us to immigration and sorted some of that . Very basic but the best place we have stayed at in Thailand ( and the cheapest!)

Very friendly and helpful owner. She was a delight. Restaurant had good food. Room had beautiful view of the Mekong, got there in the afternoon and it was relaxing to sit on the balcony as the sunset. They give you a ride to the Thai border/immigration, which is great, because it is too far too walk.

Absolute favorite place in Thailand so far! we would totally extend our stay if our visa's weren't expiring! we wish we had known of this place earlier, and are planning on returning :) The owner is amazingly friendly - and a free unexpected pick up from the bus stop! Help with everything from where to go and to local customs...Don is also very informative - just love being here. The view is great and the beds comfy....sigh... don't want to leave!
