2 Do not stay here!
The rooms were tiny and I mean our double was just the bed. No room around it for our bags. it was also filthy and falling apart. the room was so cracked we had loads of bugs and even huge lizards finding their way in. But the worst thing was that they have to huge alsatian dogs there. And one attacked me on our second day. i didnt want to stay the next day but they wouldnt give us our money back, even though I think the dog attacking me is a pretty good reason not to want to stay. The dogs were allowed in the TV room so it stunk of sh*t. Every single person there complained of the smell in the TV room but they still let the dogs in there. It was disgusting, you couldnt even go in there. Also it is miles away from anywhere so you have to get the shuttle bus everywhere which is so annoying, and mission beach has nothing to do whatsoever! really boring, do not go there at all!

5 Best hostel in Australia!
This place is great! Clean, friendly, great communal area, free Sat night BBQ, films to watch, swimming pool, badminton -- I could go on. The staff make you feel so welcome at all times and nothing is too much trouble. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

5 Really friendly and personal!
Loved Absolute Backpackers. The lady who owns it is really friendly and helpful and informative. She booked our skydive for us and came out to see us in the evening after we had done it to ask how it was. We only spent two nights there but she knew us (and everyone else, it seems) by name. So chatty and friendly. The facilities were really good and there was even an oven and a freezer (not things you find in a lot of hostels!). By booking the skydive through the hostel we got a night's free accommodation -- can't argue with that! The only thing that lets this hostel down is the lack of air-conditioning. Our dorm got really stuffy at night in this tropical northern location -- air-con would have made a big difference. But overall, it was great.
