Description
Our guests will be lodged in a comfortable and enjoyable environment. A new lounge room is about to be provided as a groovy gathering place to meet people and friends or just simply for those who may want to enjoy the flabbergasting sight. In this very new place, those who visit Terra Brasilis will enjoy a home theatre, a bar with a wood-burning pizza oven and various other services rendered by us. One thing that remains untouched is our peculiar venue, located at a peace and quiet dead end street in one of the most pleasant neighbourhoods of Rio de Janeiro, which is Santa Teresa´s. If there’s one thing visitors just don´t forget it’s our astonishing 180º view faced towards Lapa, the centremost point of the “carioca” night lifestyle flanked by all Rio attractions and Guanabara Bay!
Many thanks!
Hope to see you all soon!

Location is great, close to the beautiful center of Santa Teresa. Nice view over city (district Lapa) and close to Lapa's nightlife.

The location is amazing if you want to see another side to Rio not the beaches.

This is a nice hostel with friendly staff. We splashed out and stayed in the suite (double room with bathroom, though actually in the corridor, not part of the room). We liked the staff though found standards to be pretty sloppy. E.g. we asked for the sheets to be changed after 2 days (standard daily change in brazil in any type of hotel) and they refused. Not good customer service for a place charging $R150/night!

The views both at day and night exceeded my expectations. Initially hard to find, but once we explored the area we were surprised at how close it was to transport hubs! There is a nice mixture of street art, flora and fauna, and picturesque buildings. The buses where frequent and the famous yellow tram is very close and convenient. The steps of Lapa are a short walk away. If you can, definitely walk around and explore the nooks and crannies of the area.
The area lacks good places to eat, and what can be found is expensive. The hostel is opposite a nice museum ruin, where you can see Sugar Loaf Mountain. The Staff are extremely helpful and trustworthy. The surrounding area also feels secure. You can hear the different birds and the music from around Lapa.
It's a DOG FREE environment and the CATS keep their distance!

One guy on staff was very helpful (forget his name). Views were excellent and only a short walk to restaurants and lively bars. Much nicer atmosphere than Copa/Ipanena. Felt relatively safe in the area.

Big spacious dorms, amazing views over the city and can´t beat the location for the nightlife. Santa Theresa and Lapa have a much better atmosphere then Ipanema and Cococabana and it´s far more fun to party with Brazilians rather than tourists! The beaches are easily accessible via the metro. The breakfasts here are huge and Elizabeth who works here never stopped being incredibly helpful.

Santa Teressa is a great location for a hostel if you want to chill out at the end of a hectic Rio day and then spend time in Lapa or Santa Terresa. The Hostel itself was very chilled out and homely with a bohemian feel- not a party hostel but attracts cool easy going people up for a laugh.
The hostel is old and naturally air conditioned, with huge open terraces and windows- great views of Centro even from the shower.

I liked the building itself. It is a beautiful structure that overlooks Lappa. Here, you get nature and the city. I also liked that the rooms had big windows that remained open all day. The rooms remained cool and you felt like you were a bit more in touch with nature.

Wonderful view and great people! The owner is so nice and friendly. She really made me feel welcome. I wish I could haved stayed longer. I liked that they had laundry and beverages for sale onsite, as well as all the different outdoor seating areas...the hammock on the balcony was great for reading.

Lovely Hostel! A friend of mine stayed at Terra Brasilis Hostel on her vacations. She had a very good impression -- comfortable, clean bathrooms, delicious breakfast, and situated at charming Santa Teresa. Last january, my husband and I decided to go to Brazil. My friend was right! If you are planing to travel to Rio, stay there! — Deirdre , USA (2008-03-14)
