The Hostelz.com Review
Pirwa Posada del Corregidor has one of the best hostel locations in Cusco -- right on the Plaza de Armas. You can’t get any more central than this, and you don’t even have to pay over the odds for it. The downside is that it can be noisy at night.
The Location
The hostel is very easy to find, located right on the Plaza de Armas. The sign might be a little tricky to spot, as the doorway is wedged in between restaurants and shops, but you’ll find it with a minimum of searching. It’s a short cab ride from the bus terminal or the airport, and walking distance to restaurants, cafes, clubs, and most tourist sights.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Dorm rooms have locking doors, with keys left at reception when you go out. There are no bunk beds -- a bonus for weary backpackers -- in the shared rooms, or you have the option of private rooms. Both types have ensuite bathrooms which include hot showers and lots of space to change and to hang your stuff. There are no lockers in dorm rooms.
Common Spaces
Common areas are somewhat limited, but with the location right in the heart of Cusco you’re unlucky to spend much of your time in the hostel. There is no kitchen, but free breakfast is provided at a restaurant on the second-floor, where you can also buy lunch and dinner. It is clean and generally well-kept throughout. Internet access is available, as is Wi-Fi. There is no book exchange. Travel services are provided in an office on the ground floor.
Summary
The hostel itself is basic but clean and comfortable, and you can’t beat the location as a base for exploring Cusco.

Poor service, noisy, scam I had a room booked for two nights, I never returned for the second. The hostel is apparently connected to a dance club and the music plays all night until about 4 a.m. The walls are paper thin so I heard it all the way up on the third floor, as well as the noise anytime anyone entered the hostel, let alone the rooms nearby. Standard hostel noise maybe, but louder than most I think. They also upcharged me when I went to check out, and started going into the whole exchange rate speech, which is complete crap, but wouldn't let me have the "complimentary" breakfast until I paid a higher price, and I think they knew I was in a time crunch to catch my bus, so basically just screwed me over. — JL , USA (2009-05-21)
Friendly Staff -- Less than Average Rooms The location is perfect, just a few steps from Plaza de Armas. That's very convenient. The rooms have no windows to the outside, only to the inner "patio." The biggest problem is the cold walls, some rooms have "old" stone walls and these get very cold at night, we had to ask for a heater. Another problem is the Disco next door, you can hear the music at night although it's not too loud. The free Internet service (only one computer) is a nice touch. Very friendly staff. — DJ (2008-10-07)
