Pletkovic Hostel offers the very basics if you are looking to explore the ancient Roman ruins or relax out on the Croatian beaches.
The Location
Located about five minutes' walking distance away from the train and bus station, this hostel is a great deal for where it is situated. From here you can easily walk to the open air Roman ruins or down the coastline for the beaches. The town itself is quiet small and there are a lot of amenities close by.
Rooms and Bathrooms
There are two well-kept, co-ed dorm rooms of six and eight persons each. Within each room is a washroom and a shower (separate rooms). The beds are wooden bunk beds with uncomfortable springy mattresses that poke you in the ribs. However, everything is very clean. There is even air conditioning in the rooms which is a surprise given the type of accommodation. You are given storage space, but the type you get is luck of the draw. It can range from a full sized closet or a small office desk drawer. At least you have something to lock your valuables, but not necessarily your main pack. Washrooms and showers are also clean; however, the shower head is placed at level meant for a midget.
Common Spaces
There is much lacking in terms of common space in that there is no common space except for your dorm room. There is a fridge and a hotplate in the reception area but no table or sink. Also, the reception is only staffed in the morning and early afternoon. It is up to the guest currently staying at the hostel to make sure everything is kept locked down.
Summary
Despite some of the downfalls, the hostel is a very nice place with a well trained staff that give everyone a brief introduction to the city and its sights.
