The Hostelz.com Review
Like many of the other Italian Hostelling International hostels, location of this hostel is not good. From the train station to the hostel you need to ride two different subways. And it's not close to any of the major attractions in the city. The nearby neighborhood features a supermarket, a McDonald's and a pizzeria - and that's all.

That being said, the hostel is mostly clean. The bathrooms leave a little to be desired, but they aren't terrible. The dorms rooms are pretty sparse - nothing more than the beds in there. But they do provide you with some very large lockers for free.

There is a snack bar in the hostel with some reasonably priced items, including microwave dinners, to go along with the ice cream and beer they sell. Breakfast is better than most, as they actually have some cereal to go along with you rolls and jam/nutella.

This hostel has a reputation for very unfriendly staff, but the owners say that changes have been made more recently and there does seem to be an improvement.

4 Bad location, good hostel
I really liked this hostel. The location sucks, as has been noted, so if you're into nightlife, it's not the place for you, but I found the rooms very spacious, the beds comfy, the bathrooms clean and modern, and the breakfast ample for a hostel. Only complaints are the loud slamming of lockers at all hours of the night.

1 Warning: Dangerous for your health
We arrived in the evening. Baby-doll prostitutes lined the streets, and pimps and drug dealers hung out on hostel property right by the front door. Although we'd prepaid for the hostel, after examining the room, we decided not to stay. As we were leaving, a prostitute brought a customer into the building. We never felt safe -- in fact, we didn't even wait for a bus or the subway, but caught the first cab back into the city.

3 Basic and cheap
I've stayed here three times. Never seen any bedbugs. You get two keys -- one for the door of the room and one for your locker (you also get a lock). They're pretty close to a metro station and there's a supermarket and a cheap (but small) internet place nearby. You can get in during the night, there's no curfew. What I don't like about this hostel is the toilets and the staff. But it's a cheap place to stay.

1 Do not stay here.
I unfortunately did not listen to the advice of my guidebook when they said not to stay here unless you have to. This is in a very bad neighborhood not near to anything you wan to see in Milan. There are hookers lining the streets at night and walking alone was not a pleasant experience as you have men yelling things at you from their cars as they drive by. You'd be better off sleeping on a bench in the train station.

1 This multistory 1960s hostel has never been renovated, and is full of students on bus tours. It is big, loud, dirty, and the women's toilets were practically unusable (standing only). I was there in the weekend, where the halls were filled with loud drunk and sick drunk people. There were only cold showers at any time of the day, and no electrical outlets in the rooms. Location was ok, just a few minutes away from a subway. Street was lined with prostitutes at night.

5 excellent Hostel I have ever stayed. very convenient for airplane travelers as QT8 station is on the line of cadrona, starting point of Malpensa express. good breakfast, individual keys, luggage store, nice two bedsheets, and a blanket. I wanted to see the bedbugs but could not find them. stayed there twice and will definitely stay again.

1 Overcrowded dirty rooms. Bed bugs and the like on mattresses. Breakfast was two hard pieces of bread and dishwater coffee. Staff at reception rude and unhelpful. We booked and paid in advance but there was no record of my payment/booking when I arrived and I had to sleep separate from my friend (also male!) in a dorm with some smelly, old arab guys who worked in the hostel (restructuring). Woken up in morning by noise of pneumatic drill and hammering loud. Locker doors slammed till late at night. Showers were open (curtain was not sufficient), bathroom cold and slippery (water on pavement), water was a mere trickle and not hot just tepid. I had to stay in Milan for study reasons. We will not recommend it and I will not go again. We intend to head elsewhere. Also the membership card is a rip-off as you have to buy one card per each person and they dont even give you a receipt for it. Head for a hotel, there are plenty.

1 I have stayed at this hostel first time in 2000 with my family. Reading the comments now and realizing nothing has changed, it shows that when there is no competition around, hostels and there owners can charge you for anything. It's a place to sleep, nothing else.

1 Grubby breakfast room. Dirty linen on our beds. Staff rude and unhelpful. Bar did not stock alcoholic drinks.

2 This place promised much, but delivered little. All the basics were there, but it was really noisy at night because of the nearby road. The pool table is broken, probably the worst I've ever played on. The staff were fairly helpful, but it wasn't exactly cheap. Overall, a cheap option in Milan which just about suffices.

3 Great shelter with good breakfast. Too much activity and noise from six in the morning and baggage are due to watch well. The noise of the padlocks and closets of security so near the rooms is disagreeable. Advice -- to take antimosquitos. Not recommended to families by the abundant prostitution of the street where the shelter is located.

1 Well their web page now says there is no curfew time. Funny, I spent one night on the road in the rain because I had missed curfew time by 5 minutes - still was aked to pay for the night because my gear was in the locker. Probably was better than being in the hostel. This was the worst place I have ever stayed. Prison would have been a better option. Unfortunately, Milan does not offer much alternative for people on a budget.

1 This place is awful. It's badly situated and the staff are really, really, really unhelpful! They make you feel like you are not welcome here (and the queue is so long all the time). I once asked a question to a staff person and he was really UNFRIENDLY, making me feel like I disturbed him and that my question was so stupid. It is better to stay in a prison than here. And I can't believe the owner says there has been improvement about the unfriendly staff. I've been here this summer and all the staff I talked with were apathetic. (My advice to them: work in a factory if you don't want to deal with people.)

2 This was one the worst hostels I've ever stayed at. It was just like a horrible hospital. It's very far away from the city center, and there is nothing to do around the hostel. The breakfast was terrible. Simply put, don't go here.
