Not job and the owner only concerns about money My boyfriend and I stay here since Mid of Jan. It is the peak grape season. However, we have been waiting for over 3 weeks, the owner still not yet found the job for us. He always said will have a new job in coming Sat. (because Friday you have to pay the rent), however, there is no any new job in Sat. He is a liar. Only say he is organizing, but finally, you wait for nothing. Although some people got the job, but the salary is very low, only $0.90cents per 1 box of grape, the people only can pick 10-30 one day. which means they only can earn $30 after worked for 8 hours. the hourly job sounds good, but only $10/hour. One more thing, all the salary is paid by cash, which means it is illegal job!!!!!! IF you want to do illegal job and get low paid, you may come here and enjoy!! The most most most important thing is The FXXKING owner will turn off the air-conditioner as he want in order to save his money, they don't care about you is staying the room under 40+degree. everybody can't eat and can't sleep everyday. HE always not in the hostel, it is very difficult to find him to turn on the air-conditioner or to ask him if we got the job tomorrow.
Although he is here, we asked him to turn on the air-conditioner, he will say is broken down. WTF, do you believe that only the air-con in 1st floor room are all down, but others are working well? Finally, IF you want to be lied by him everyday, and pay $140 without job and air-con under 40+ degree in summer, it is your best choice!!! — Catherine , Taiwan (2011-02-04)

Ok i stayed here for almost a month. it's a nice hostel, it's clean and the owner + his son are nice as well. it's just not a good working hostel. they haven't got enough contracts with farmers so that everyone in the hostel will find work and it is the most expensive hostel in mildura. — isabelle , german (2009-06-08)

Nice place Had a lot of fun here and made some good friends and money. Great beds, clean. This was one of the best places I stayed while I was in oz. — Sheree Bailey , U.S. (2008-05-20)
Disorganised and chaotic! On first impressions the place what nice and new and the manager, then, Wally was very nice. I soon found out there was very little work to satisfy the forty-five-odd travelers staying there. The management clearly had not made the connections with farmers required to supply the sheer number of residents with regular work. The management also allowed unruly and sometimes abusive residents to stay even after incidents involving violence had occurred. The organisation and frequency of work remained confusing and frustrating throughout my stay and I had to organise my own work by contacting the farmers direct.
Having said that it was very clean (and the nicest backpackers in Mildura) and the free BBQ every two sundays was good too. You win some, you lose some. — backpacker07 , British (2007-12-21)
