Nice place I liked this hostel. I stayed here in May 2007 and chose it because of it's proximity to Beijing West train station and Tian'anmen Square (it's about a half hour walk to the Square -- taking it very easy). The staff were reasonably friendly and helpful. The room I stayed in had some sort of previous water leakage (the flooring was buckled and squelched a little), but on the whole it was pretty good. The common kitchen is small, but doesn't seem to draw a big crowd so it's ok. They offer a room service breakfast for 16RMB (food only -- you have to find your own beverages) and it was pretty good. As I dashed out to grab some hot water for my coffee, I found to my amazement that they prepare the room service breakfast in the common kitchen -- I hope no one was inconvenienced by this. — Axerati , Australia (2007-09-14)
This place had leaking bathroom installations, and the rooms were not very clean. But the worst: they gave us back a false 100 RMB bill (the key deposit) when we were checking out — then they were laughing and wishing us "good luck." — Anonymous (2005-04-12)

If anyone is travelling to Beijing on a budget, then this hostel is a must. It's full of friendly, helpful people and has a good atmosphere all round. The rooms were extremely clean and the pre-arranged tours to places such as the Great Wall and Ming Tombs were superb value for money. Tip: If you want to get photographic info, see the guy in the little shop downstairs. He, I'm sure, will be pleased to help you. Again, stay at this hostel. — Chris Ferguson (2005-03-31)

I stayed in the nine-bedroom shared dorm in February 2004. The bathroom floor had a leak so there was some water there, but the rooms were okay and comfortable. The location is great and the people there were really great, too. You can rent bicycles and it's only a few quick subway stops to Tiananmen Square, etc. — Patrick (2005-03-09)

It has been a while since we stayed here but I wanted to write a note to say our experience was great. We were helped a lot by the information people and took a trip to the Great Wall. The hostel was a clean, quiet and had a pleasant atmosphere. Thanks, Simon, and everyone else. Ps. The reason I visited this site is because I am recommending this place right now to my brother. — Rick Favelle (2005-02-05)

In December 2004 they lost Simon and the service staff that dealt with tours, laundry and many other things in a professional way. They now do it on their own — but much less professionally. English is still a little problem, and many special services listed in the owner's description are gone with Simon (camera, scanning, etc.).
FeiYing's rooms became dirtier, and the karaoke bar in the basement and the restaurant on the ground floor are very noisy at night up to 3 a.m. There is poor hot water support before 7 a.m. and after 9 p.m. So you'd better not get a cold in Beijing — a hot shower could be a problem when you return to the hostel at night. — Me (2004-12-25)
