Description
This is a very clean, very upmarket hostel. The staff were both excellent at their jobs and very friendly, always ready to give help if you have a problem. The rooms were of exceedingly good quality, each room having its own bathroom.

It is a small hostel, particularly good for families, although according to the staff, the atmosphere changes, so at certain times of the year it can be more lively. There is a bar selling soft drinks, alcoholic drinks and snacks. There is also a drinks machine in the Dining Room. Guests may use the payphone, which is unfortunately situated in one of the main corridors and therefore is not very private.

By the bar, there is a TV area (non-smoking) with cable TV. There are Austrian, German, French and Italian channels. By the TV area, there is a conservatory set aside for smokers, which has plenty of comfortable seating.

The breakfast is excellent. It is a typical Austrian breakfast of a very high standard. It is also self-service, but there are always members of staff on hand if you need help with anything.

The hostel is situated just above the main town of Zell am See, which is a very well-served community with all the necessary shops and restaurants for any type of traveller. As its name suggests, it is situated on a lake, on which you can take boat tours and hire out pedalos. Surrounding the lake there is an easy path and along the shore there are many bathing stations ehich are inexpensive. If you like walking, you can take a number of paths from the town into the surrounding mountains or, if you prefer, take one of the many cable-cars and chair-lifts, situated just 500m from the hostel.

Further afield, the towns of Salzburg, Innsbruck and Kitzbuhel have much to offer those into site-seeing. All of these towns are a very easy train journey from Zell am See station.

Overall, this is a very pleasant hostel, which gives you a chance to relax after travelling.
