Description
Out on the holy “Isla Del Sol” (Island of the Sun) in the Titicaca Lake, Hostelling International Bolivia presents the new HI-Hostel “Inka Pacha”.

Reaching the top of the island after having climbed the famous Inca Stairs from the South Port (1.5 hours by boat from Copacabana), come and enjoy the mind-blowing view and the delicious food in our new hostel, entirely built under ecological aspects.

The hostel offers a number of different well-kept rooms, including dormitory, matrimonial, double and family rooms (with and without private bathroom), most of which offer a stunning panorama view over the Titicaca Lake and the Cordillera Real!

Don Martín and his family serve breakfast; lunch and dinner (try the “Trout a la Romana”, fresh from the lake!) and offer you interesting trips to the Incas’ nearby temple of the sun, the Island of the Moon and the island’s northern part where you can find the mystic “Head of the Puma”. You can also buy ferry tickets in the hostel.

HOSTELLING INTERNATIONAL BOLIVIA RECOMMENDS:

Bring only little luggage when you come to the island, the way up the Inca stairs with heavy backpacks and suitcases is pretty tiring, especially when you haven’t got used to the height yet!

There are no banking facilities on the island, so make sure you bring enough money (and change!).

Don’t get mislead by the ‘tourist hunting’ boys at the port! The boys abandon their school classes to earn commissions leading tourists to other hostels – don’t support them neglecting their education!
Just walk up to the Inca stairs to the little village “Yucumani”, you can’t miss the hostel!

HOSTEL CONDITIONS:

A new building on the island's most beautiful spot - just above the Inca Virgins Stairs and the Inca Fountain!

Amazing sunrise view over the Lake Titicaca and the snow peaked Andes from your hostel rooms.

DIRECTIONS TO HOSTEL:

By bus from La Paz (Bolivia) or Puno(Peru) daily to Copacabana - then by boat 1,5 hours to the South Port of Sun Island - and just up the stairs!

LOCATED NEAR:

Located near the South Port in the village of Yucumani - lovely trekking to all Inca sites, ruins and museums - boat trip to Moon Island.

5 It's a genuine place: rustic, quiet, peaceful, without sophistication. The scenery we saw from the window of our room was lovely and the food prepared by Marcela was wonderful and very cheap (We paid $ 10 and ate trout, potatos, rice, salad and beer for two people)!   — Juliana Torres Moreti (2011-08-12) Hostelbookers

3 Good location, one of the first hostels at the top of the Inca steps from the port, you will be glad!! View from windows was fantastic, Lady who ran the place was helpful   — Customer review (2011-03-26) Hostelbookers
5 the lady who ran the hostel was very friendly and helpful. great views from the dorm too   — Manav Passi (2011-03-13) Hostelbookers

4 Great location and friendly staff!   — Customer review (2010-08-04) Hostelbookers
4 The staff was really helpful... but the first night 1 1/2 hours to get dinner... then the second night 2 1/2 hours to get dinner. The food was great, but I don't understand the wait. They must have used a match stick to cook each grain of rice! From, Very Hungry   — Naomi Rogers (2010-06-12) Hostelbookers
4 the lady running the hostel reqally tries to make your stay enjoyable. located at the top of the mountain but close to many restaurants lovely view from the bedroom   — mary kelly (2010-05-07) Hostelbookers
5 Not quite at the top of the hill but still had great views. All the hostels on the island are basic but we had hot showers here and a good breakfast (extra cost). There are pleanty of others though but we were happy with it. You can´t get a HI discount though unless you book it in La Paz.   — Customer review (2010-03-10) Hostelbookers
3 very nice view on the lake and the moon island   — Customer review (2010-02-05) Hostelbookers
4 The location and character of the hostel are its biggest selling points. The owner was lovely and the breakfast was good and the rooms were quite cheap. However, there is no electricity or running water so the facilities aren't as good as you would expect elsewhere but it is these aspects which make the hostel what it is. The whole island doesn't have running water or electricity so only go if you're prepared for this!   — Customer review (2009-10-29) Hostelbookers
