The time of our lives!
Harmonia is such a cosy, charming, and friendly place to stay. Door to door with other hostels you find yourself in a "hostel community" where it's easy to get to know other travelers. Harmonia is clean, warm, and pleasant, with functioning internet connection and an okay breakfast. Good toilet and shower facilities. No insects! The staff is fabulous! (Especially Hakan and Anderson.) So apart from the cranky old lady who has an occasional breakdown over loud laughs in the alleyway, an annoying doorbell, and the night guard who grabbed my friend Ursula's bum (he got fired, don't worry), Harmonia will show you the time of your life! And it is located in a safe, central area, close enough to Beach numero 9, where you want to be.

The best
We stayed in Harmonia for a week and it was the best hostel we had ever been to. The staff was helpful and very nice (thanks to Ron, Hakan, Donna, Kelly, Robert, and Mary). The place was clean, quiet, and the breakfast was great.The hostel is wonderfully located in the heart of Ipanema, close to restaurants, juice bars, public transportation and, of course, the beach! Great atmosphere, nice fellow-travelers, and the staff that cares! I highly recommend hostel Harmonia!

All the hostels on the backyard of Rua Barão da Torre 175 are great! They are your best option, especially if this is your first time in Rio. It's relatively safe and you'll absolutely meet other happy travelers.

I had an amazing time at Harmonia. The rooms are small and cramped - but you don't go to Rio to sleep. The owner is layed back and he has created a friendly, warm, fun atmosphere and the Scandinavian staff (Miya I love you) are incredible.

I had a great time in Rio and this hostel was a good time. It was small enough to avoid the usual hostel BS and the staff were friendly, laid back and cool. It's in an excellent location and is a good place to stay in Rio if you are on a budget.

The rooms were small, cramped, and bedbug infested. You feel like you're in a sardine can. It's overrun by Scandinavians and one of the owners was more interested in getting into my pants. When he couldn't succeed he told me, in the middle of the day, that they were all booked and I had to leave. The only advantage of staying here is the location, which is prime! Rio has several good youth hostels; stay in one of those instead and enjoy this great city!

We spent arond 2 weeks in Harmonia, and the atmosphere is excellent. We got to know a lot of people, the staff were friendly and informative, and the location is just EXCELLENT... walk down to the beach in 2 minutes. Recommended by me, a Norwegian backpacker.

We had a great time in Rio, fun and nice people but the hostel is very tiny, small rooms for 6 people and just a small social area.
