The Hostelz.com Review
HI - Ljubljana - Dic Hostel, the biggest and cheapest hostel in Ljubljana, is essentially a college dorm. The five-story, secure building is very comfortable although not really homey feeling. It is only open from June 1 until the end of August. It is very large, nice, clean, and spacious. It was built in 1980 but has been renovated nicely. All you can eat breakfast is available for a small fee. The reception desk is staffed all the time and they will book trips and activities. The hostel has heating and air conditioning. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hostel is full of young travelers.

The Location

This hostel has an excellent location just a few minutes' walking distance to all the major attractions of Ljubljana. A grocery store is just a three-minute walk away. Secure luggage storage is available. It is a five-minute walk to the city center from the hostel and about a fifteen-minute walk to the train.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The bedrooms are set up like a college dorm with either three or five beds. They have one or two bunk beds and a single bed in each room. Everything is very clean and the beds are comfortable but the rooms are not en-suite. Each floor has a large bathroom for five rooms to share with toilet stalls, showers, and sinks for the guests. There is plenty of hot water and no waiting to use the facilities. Bed linen and towels are included as well as free use of bicycles.

Common Spaces

There are many free computer terminals available. On each floor is a nice lounge shared by five rooms for socializing. Guests are free to use any of the lounges on any of the floors. There is also a nice kitchen, television, and games available in the lounge on each floor. Laundry facilities are available for guest use.

Summary

This hostel is a bargain at 11 euros for a dorm bed. You get a lot for your money. It is clean, centrally located, and has kitchen facilities. The only problem is that it is only open three months of the year. It attracts a young international crowd and everyone is very friendly and social. This is a good place for people on a budget who want to meet people, be centrally located, and do their own cooking.

5 Amazing place!
This hostel is enormous and fantastic. Internet everywhere, drinks machines, 3 Euros all you can eat breakfast, loads and loads of space in building, clean beds, great view from window. It's like a huge university residence and it's as cheap as chips. If you are coming to Ljubljana then stay here. Having stayed in hostels all over the world this is the best one yet.

3 A good choice
I really don' t know why no one has posted comments about this place before because it doesn't seem like a new hostel. A bed in a dorm costs 11e (the cheapest in Ljubljana) and the place is clean and located in the city center -- what more can a traveler hope for? I lived with only two other people in the same room, but I think some other rooms are a lot bigger. The hostel is very big (six floors) so it doesn't really feel like "home" but it's still very good for 11e. Moreover the staff is friendly.
