The Hostelz.com Review
This is a brand-new and wonderful hostel in the heart of Madrid, a very laid back place with great people. It's easy to tell that backpackers own and run this place, because they understand the needs of the backpacker, and the staff are so friendly and helpful.

The Location

This hostel has to be in the best location in in the city. Coming from either the airport or the train station it is a snap to hop on the metro to the center of the city, Puerta del Sol, and San Jordi is just a few steps away from the metro stop. All of the major attractions are within walking distance or an easy ride on the metro, and it is surrounded by restaurants, shops, and clubs. It is truly in the heart of the city, and with that comes the noise of late-night partying Madrid.

Rooms and Bathrooms

This place is immaculate. Everything is brand new and squeaky clean. The beds are incredibly comfortable, clean sheets and blankets, and everyone has their own key to the rooms. There weren't any lockers, but people seem to watch out for each other here. The bathrooms are clean and spacious.

Common Spaces

They have 4 computers with free internet, and it's a great little area to chat with other people. There's also a well-stocked kitchen and a nice TV/lounge area where people hang out to relax. This is a great hostel to meet people, since everyone is so friendly and ready to go out and enjoy the amazing nightlife of Madrid. The atmosphere is very intimate, and it feels as if you're staying at a friend's house. The staff is so helpful and great about recommending places to eat, clubs, etc.

Summary

This is a wonderful hostel and the best place to stay in Madrid.

1  Extremely poor security I was in this Hostel in January of 2011. Unfortunately I was robbed in this Hostel the second day of my stay. The safe deposit boxes are in the rooms and you are given a key by Hostel crew from a safe, but obviously the crew members have double or spare keys. When I was in a walking tour that is organized by this hostel, somebody of the crew members used a double key and unlocked my safety deposit box in the room and stole all my cash-450 euros. The safe was not broken or damaged. I was desperate and reported the case to the police. The worst part was that I still had 6 days more to stay in Madrid penniless. All my trip was completely ruined. I have been writing emails to the owner, and he has not answered me yet. He is hiding and ignoring me. What irresponsibility!!! That's how some business people care about their guests! What a shame! I wouldn't go to this hostel!  , Serbia ()
4  it is really nice, though small, very clean and close to everything the showers are small but nice and clean and hot and good pressure. bathroom is clean, rooms are clean though a bit of smoky smell. people do not go to bed at all, and they give u earplugs and u will need it. kitchen is small but most people do not use it. internet is great. free coffee and tea and some even free beer, free olive oil if u want to cook, 1 min walk to sol metro. front desk people are really friendly and helpful.  , USA ()
4  Excellent location!! This is very small hostel Very clean hostel and excellent location. Friendly staff. As it is nearby the metro station and the location is so convenience and there are too much noise from the street at night. I would advise to spend for 1-2 night in this hostel because of the excellent location.  , Hong Kong ()
5  Memorable! Just a great experience from start to finish, Warm and friendly staff, great location and atmosphere. Highly recommend the location to see everything this great city has to offer. We had a blast, already planning another visit!  , UK ()
5  Very high quality hostal. Highly recommend this hostel. Central location, excellent hospitality, and ultra clean.  , Australia ()
5  Home away from home. This is not a hostel, more like an apartment. I had been traveling for two months when i arrived at Sant Jordi, expectations of just another hostel were on my mind. However i was completely wrong. This was by far the best hostel i stayed at during my travels. Great staff, comfortable and clean beds, and a friendly environment to help anyone settle into their adventures. I think i'll definitely be going back!  , Aus ()
