The Hostelz.com Review
Safe Landing is a very small resort, located near the top of the beautiful Yasawa Islands. It takes about four hours from Denarau Marina to reach the resort on the Yasawa Flyer catamaran that services most of the resorts in Fiji's Western outer islands -- but it's more than worth the relaxing trip.

From the moment you step off the small water taxi that ferries you to the island, you are greeted by some of the friendliest, genuine people you'll ever meet.

The resort has a large dorm, about 8-10 private beachfront bures with ensuite bathrooms (and hot water), as well as some basic Fijian bures which use the communal bathroom facilities. The shared toilets don't have great water pressure, so don't be alarmed if you have trouble flushing them! The shared showers are cold water only, but considering how warm Fiji is, it's not really a problem. The rooms are all cleaned daily, and even have a turn down service!

Safe Landing is all about relaxing in paradise, so while facilities are basic, it's more than likely you won't even notice. Hammocks line the beachfront, sea kayaks are free, and there is a volleyball court for the active minded.

Meals are pre-paid before you go to the island, and are served in the beachside, sand-floor dining room -- and are filling and delicious! There is also a bar, which you can order drinks from any time of the day.

There are several tours available, including a snorkelling trip to the nearby Blue Lagoon, a cave diving trip and a visit to the local village to meet the Chief. There's not a lot to do at night, so it's not a party island by any means, but if you are after a taste of total paradise on a budget, Safe Landing is absolutely ideal. Highly recommended.

My sister Laura and I loved this place. The people were lovely. The staff made us feel part of the family. The Fijian people are the friendliest, most genuine people I have ever met. I hope one day I can return to this beautiful country.

Brilliant! Compared to some of the places in the Yasawa Islands, this was definitely one of the best!!!

We went to Safe Landing as backpackers, and had a wonderful time. We made some great friends here that we kept in touch with. We made friends because all the guests are thrown together, eat their meals together, and do activities together. The staff are fantastic, and they really try to keep you entertained when you want to be. I will always have very fond memories of Safe Landing.

Having been to Fiji some seven times, I found this to be the most awesome yet. There were coral sand beaches, crystal clear waters, lush tropical jungle hikes. This resort far exceeded our expectations. With a staffing ratio of almost one staff member to every two guests, nothing was too much to ask. Having stayed at the Sheraton prior to this, we found the Safe Landing service far superior. The accommodation consisted of simple but nice beach front "bures," complete with flushing toilets and solar hot water and power points (no fridges). Being located within meters of the ocean, we enjoyed wave sounds rocking us to sleep each evening. But beware of the food--it is scrumptious and plentiful and most likely to increase the size of your waist quite significantly. There are heaps of trips and great snorkeling spots especially at the nearby Oarsman. The staff were amazing with our two pre-teens and two-year-old, whom we seemed to see less and less of as the holiday progressed. We all thoroughly enjoyed the love and attention we received. Even though this place is marketed mostly to backpackers, we thoroughly recommend this to families. It’s especially great for nature lovers, as the wildlife we encountered included fruit bats feeding in the tree outside our bure, colourful sea life, skipperfish, geckos and much more. We will definitely be returning.
