Safe Landing is a very small resort, located near the top of the beautiful Yasawa Islands. It takes about four hours from Denarau Marina to reach the resort on the Yasawa Flyer catamaran that services most of the resorts in Fiji's Western outer islands -- but it's more than worth the relaxing trip.
From the moment you step off the small water taxi that ferries you to the island, you are greeted by some of the friendliest, genuine people you'll ever meet.
The resort has a large dorm, about 8-10 private beachfront bures with ensuite bathrooms (and hot water), as well as some basic Fijian bures which use the communal bathroom facilities. The shared toilets don't have great water pressure, so don't be alarmed if you have trouble flushing them! The shared showers are cold water only, but considering how warm Fiji is, it's not really a problem. The rooms are all cleaned daily, and even have a turn down service!
Safe Landing is all about relaxing in paradise, so while facilities are basic, it's more than likely you won't even notice. Hammocks line the beachfront, sea kayaks are free, and there is a volleyball court for the active minded.
Meals are pre-paid before you go to the island, and are served in the beachside, sand-floor dining room -- and are filling and delicious! There is also a bar, which you can order drinks from any time of the day.
There are several tours available, including a snorkelling trip to the nearby Blue Lagoon, a cave diving trip and a visit to the local village to meet the Chief. There's not a lot to do at night, so it's not a party island by any means, but if you are after a taste of total paradise on a budget, Safe Landing is absolutely ideal. Highly recommended.
