The Hostelz.com Review
Ivanhoe Hostel is a fun and dynamic place to stay. Music is played all around the place (it can sometimes be disturbing though) and guests and staff are all very friendly and willing to meet new friends. They have posted on the notice board a map of all places of interest and frequently asked locations, even for supermarkets and their opening hours -- this is very kind of them.
The Location
The hostel is located at the city centre, only one metro station from Roma Termini or around fifteen minutes on foot. It might be a bit difficult to find at first, even with a map, but its three-star sister hotel Ivanhoe Hotel is just opposite -- it's much easier to find and can be readily located.
Rooms and Bathrooms
There are no standalone door locks for all rooms (either eight- or twelve-bed rooms), but lockers are available with your own lock. There are two showers and two toilets in the hostel. They are clean and is well-equipped with hooks for clothes and soap dishes.
Common Spaces
A kitchen with fridge, oven, microwave, and other kitchen wares is available for use -- it is a good place for cooking and also the major place to meet people. However, the luggage storage area is also located in the kitchen, making it a bit unsafe. Wi-Fi and computer can be used for free also, but only until midnight (the kitchen also closes at this time). The environment and atmosphere is nice and fun.
Summary
This hostel is friendly and is definitely a good place to meet people and you can always find people to chat and mingle with or go party with. However if you prefer to sleep early, it may be a bit disturbing and noisy for your because the hostel is always so energetic. Please note that the lockout period of this place is 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; you will be requested to leave the hostel during this period. Please don't forget that for this hostel, a city tax is charged on arrival on top of the fare you agreed to pay and is subject to change at any time.
