Relaxed, friendly, first choice for Mount Maunganui This is the smaller of the two backpackers in the Mount, but this one is better. Staff are friendly, they are closer to the beach, closer to the main shopping strip, and the environment is welcoming. I stayed in the nine-bed dorm, and it was particularly clean and tidy, the rest of the hostel was taken care of by the cleaner and by the three staff who clean it morning and night also. There is no curfew but they request noise be kept to a minimum after 10 p.m. This is a home away from home. Would recommend it to anyone visiting the Mount.
