The Hostelz.com Review
Castle Hostel 1004 is very popular with backpackers. Linen, towels, and Wi-Fi are included in the price. There is free internet access in the lobby. There is reception staff twenty-four hours a day and security cameras are being installed. Laundry is available for a fee. There is no AC but there is heating. It is clean, bright, and new. The staff can book guided trips, bike rentals, and sports activities.
The Location
This hostel has a prime location right by the lake. It is in the same building as the Bled Hostel -- the Castle Hostel is around the back behind the 1004 pub. It is a quick walk from the bus station. There are food markets nearby and also restaurants and bars. They don't have their own parking lot but parking is available on the street.
Rooms and Bathrooms
It has forty-two beds, arranged like dorms with bunk beds. It has two dorms with ten beds as well as one four-bed dorm and two eight-bed dorms and two double rooms -- all en-suite. The dorms are not separated by gender. The rooms are tight so there is not much personal space but are in mint condition with brand new beds and mattresses that are very comfortable. The bathrooms are brand new and spotless. There is plenty of hot water and real showers. The whole hostel was remodeled in 2008. There is no storage space but the hostel will provide luggage storage.
Common Spaces
There is no kitchen and the common space is the pub attached to the building. Guests get a free entrance pass to a local night club. Socializing is done in the bar.
Summary
This hostel is a good value for backpackers because of the prime location and value for the money. It is clean and brand new and the staff are very friendly and willing to help guests plan activities in the Bled area. All the guests mingle in the bar attached to the hostel and the crowd is very welcoming.

This is a brand new hostel in the old city centre. It is created for students and other young people. In each room there is bathroom and wc as well as a wireless internet conection. This lovely hostel offers you great location with great atmosphere.

As a couple staying in the dorm we had a brilliant stay here: The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming with everybody discussing their rafting stories etc as the hostel organises all this for you if you wish. The staff at reception were all incredibly helpful and efficient at sorting any activities out for you or giving you general information. Everybody is up for a chat and drinking some cheap slovenian wine with you, It had the most homely and welcoming feel to any hostel we stayed in on our trip across europe.

This hostel was fantastic! The rooms were quite spacious and everyone has their own locker in the room which was huge. The barbecue area outside had an excellent atmosphere on a night and the staff were really helpful and friendly. Location = great, supermarket was literally 1 min walk away and about 3mins down to lake. Definitely go here for a fantastic stay in bled!

We didn't stay there the first night because the manager of the hostel wasn't there when we arrived. Luckily the barman let us stay in his hostel (The hostel is split into two hostels). The barman showed us a great night and gave us a lock-in session. The next morning the hostel manager came back and told us we had to change rooms because there was something wrong with it. He changed us back to his hostel and completley screwed the barman over.

I had to phone the manager when I arrived, as the property was empty. He told me he would be there in 10 minutes. 2 hours later I was still waiting outside, without any further contact from the owner. I ended up, as it was getting cold and dark, having to go to 'Traveller's Haven' up the road, which I would thoroughly recommend. DO NOT BOOK CASTLE HOSTEL. It is a waste of time and money to do so. I have e-mailed the manager to say why I had switched hostels, but a day later I am yet to receive a reply.

Clean, simple, bare bones. The hot water runs out extremely quickly, so all the showers I took were ice cold. Bizarrely, the reception was closed, and the manager was gone, so we had to go to the pub next door to check in and out... Very strange, but it all worked out.

Very good, nice place for the cheapest price in town Comfy, nice, and very clean rooms. Very good staff. Had also fridge in my room, big bathrooms. My room was also rather big. Free internet as much as wanted & needed. I was staying there in June, 2008.
