The black cat is a great place with a lovely atmosphere to meet co travelers in. The staff was most times helpfull when we understood eachother (the morning personal does not spek english) the breakfast is wonderful although drinks are not included wich is a bit of a shame.. The rooms are a bit drafty and sometimes cold bur otherwise this hostel is a very good value for the money and a great place to stay!!!

Really nice hostel, comfortable beds and clean. The breakfast is amazing and you get your money{s worth becasue of the breakfast. Its a shame that there is no communal kitchen available, with all the amazing produce sold in the markets it would be good to have some facilities to store food or even make your self a hot drink.

Very friendly, helpful, and interesting staff. Most of the staff members speak good English and some are from the US. It was fun to listen to their experiences around Guatemala and get some insights from them.

Great hostel, very clean, friendly staff. There is a common area with TV, a bar and restaurant, etc. but it isn't noisy. The hostel seemed new, or recently renovated. Comfy beds, very pretty place. One of the bet I've stayed at. It is also just one block from the central park and most of the services.

Worth the Price We stayed for a week in the one private room. Very clean, good hot water in the shower, helpful and friendly staff. Located a block off the main square on a quiet road. The included breakfast is very generous but beverages (coffee, tea, and the like) are extra. Staff there can book shuttles and tours. Will stay here again next time we're in Xela. — Joan C , USA (2008-12-17)
