Skanstulls Vandrarhem is a great hostel for those looking for a comfortable and safe place to sleep. The facilities and the design of the rooms give the place a hotel-like feel. For budget travelers, this hostel indeed offers a great deal.
The Location
Skanstulls Vandrarhem is located near Skanstull subway station, which is four stations away from the Central Station. It is easy to find the hostel from Skanstull subway station. Near the hostel, there are some bars and restaurants, take-away stalls, and a mini-mart, which makes it very convenient for guests.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Rooms are very cozy, clean, and safe. Some, if not all, rooms are equipped with a computer. Wi-Fi connection can be accessed for free everywhere in the hostel, including in guests rooms. Gadget-savvy guests might find the room very favorable, as the room has a lot of power sockets, such that guests do not have to take turns using the power sockets. Bed linens are not provided, but are available for rent. The beds are comfortable, however, the upper bunk bed feels rather unsafe, as there is no safety rail at the side at all. Moreover, the heater does not seem to work well, as it can get pretty chilly at night. Bathrooms and toilets are very spacious and clean. The common bathrooms are separated by gender. A hairdryer is provided in the girls' bathroom.

Skanstulls Vandrarhem does not have a lot of common spaces. The common spaces available are mainly the kitchen, dining room, and computer area. The kitchen is clean and well equipped. Skanstulls Vandrarhem also provides free pasta for their guests. Good base for exploring Stockholm I stayed the the twelve-person dorm. The beds were very very comfortable (non-squeaky). Small lockers for personals. Common kitchen and dining area well equipped plus free pasta, tea, and coffee was a positive. The showers were clean but not great, had to hold the shower head and curtains were very flimsy. Staff weren't rude but weren't outgoing either. Free internet and plenty of computers. A half hour walk from Gamla Stan allowed me to get to know the real (suburban) Stockholm. It was very close to Skanstull train station, which was great for travel to and from the Stockholm Sentral. Quite pricey, but everything is in Stockholm. — funlight , World citizen (2009-09-09)
