The tourist information is right next to the bus terminal and will point you in the right direction to Hostel La Angostura. It is only a five-minute walk from the bus terminal and ten minutes from a decent supermarket.
It is a well run and friendly place. The staff all know some English (for those travelers that struggle with Spanish) and are polite and helpful. It is a no-smoking hostel which is great for people like us who have recently quit.
The rooms are clean and our dorm has an en-suite bathroom and shower. It is a good idea and makes your stay much cheaper if make good use of the kitchen, which has all the necessary tools to cook yourself a meal. There is also a lounge with cable TV. The hostel is not noisy at all, which I guess is not surprising since there is a stated noise curfew between midnight and 8 a.m.
Breakfast is included in the price and consists of coffee or tea and two fresh-out-of-the-oven buns. With that you also have jam or dolce con leche. It's the same everyday but very nice all the same. The hostel is a quiet place to be, although there are certain events planned and placed on the notice board.
