The Hostelz.com Review
There are many great things about Loki -- it's extremely clean and there are fantastic facilities, such as the free internet and bar. The hostel mainly attracts party goers which is great for those who enjoy the nightlife.
Location
Loki hostels always have a prime location. Loki La Paz is the revamped Hotel Viena, located in the centre of town. Shops, dry cleaners, and other useful amenities are just around the corner.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Huge airy rooms and extremely comfy beds with the luxury of a duvet to nurse your hangover in. They have great, huge bathrooms equipped with shower and toilet -- but it can be a bit annoying if you want to nip to the toilet and people are showering in them. The facilities are always clean and spotless so you can truly relax here in Loki.
Common Spaces
The bar is a beautiful old ballroom with cheap drinks all night. There's a large, open chill-out area on the first floor although it's a bit too open, with all the floors looking down over you. There's four computers and the wait can be fairly long as the internet is free. There's also a tourist information desk, which is really useful for booking Jungle and Amazon tours, and the famous dangerous road tour. The "highest oxygen bar in the world" is on the top floor, but don't be fooled -- many bars in La Paz make this claim.
Summary
You‘ll either love Loki or despise the place. Loki has all the elements of a perfect party hostel -- a huge bar and a check-out time of 1 p.m. However there's one niggling issue here -- the hostel seems to have forgotten that we're in South America. You'd never guess with English/Irish Australian staff dominating the joint -- there is the odd Latin American employee but they'll only ever be found in the bathrooms mopping the floor. There's not one trace of the local food or drink, just chips and sarnies on the menu and not one sign is in Spanish, just English. If you ever want to cut yourself out of a culture or partying is at the top of your agenda then this is the place to be. If you want to experience real Bolivia, then stay well away.

Great in most ways, some flaws though This hostel has a good location, and helpful and friendly English-speaking staff. They let me check in and sleep immediately though I arrived at 8 a.m. It has free Internet and Wi-Fi, and twenty-four-hour hot water, which in Bolivia cannot be taken for granted. The beds are clean and comfortable, and there is a good crowd. The cafe/bar is a good place to snack, and the food, though more expensive than on the street, isn't outrageous. It's not perfect, however, because the music in the bar is much, much too loud for anything except dancing after about 8 p.m., and some of the dorms are not well insulated from other dorms, so when you're trying to get to sleep you hear people talking loudly in the next room. Overall, though, I had a great time here and would certainly recommend it. — PJ , London (2008-01-21)

Nice atmosphere, great venue Great hostel to hang out, big enough to be unwary of the music at the cool bar. Great bacon sandwich available with breakfast and good dinner options. Best hostel in Bolivia, no doubts. — Juan , Colombian (2007-09-25)

Awesome This is a great hostel. The beds are comfy the staff are friendly and the bar is great. Showers are great when hot. I was here for eight days and enjoyed every one of them. The bar staff here have a very generous pour so enjoy. — James , Ireland (2007-08-01)
