We stayed in a private room which was actually on the top floor of the hotel. Room was small but ok. it was decent.

This hostel is run by the Italian equivalent of Delboy. The Hotel Hollywood appears to be a front for the several "hostel" businesses this guy has running. Despite having reserved on line and paid a deposit, we were taken — eventually — to a room about three blocks away. We arrived at the same time as two other girls and we were given one set of keys between us. None of our keys worked on the front door and we had to wait for someone else to let us in.
The room was not as bad as it could have been, but it had not been cleaned since the last people left. The floors were dirty and their wet and dirty towels were still in the bathroom. If you can find anywhere else to stay in Rome, then do so. This hostel owner does not seem to care too deeply about his customers, and the area is not the safest. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

A non-luxury place to stay but that was all right with us. The problem was that a thief came into our room through the window (you could actually open the bars!) at 5 a.m. Luckily he ran off the same way when we woke up and started to shout, but unfortunately with my husband's wallet. Well, that's Rome or any big city. But we were very disappointed when we called the reception and nobody came to our room to see what had happened. Unless in you're in need of some action and adventure, perhaps it is not a good idea to choose Pink Floyd. Sorry to say this.

I had booked to stay here for two nights (July 2003) but my friend and I never actually got to see the hostel! The owner put us into rooms in Hotel Hollywood instead (same area) - we were given a room that costs 90 euro a night though of course we paid hostel prices (80 for 2 nights) :)
It was clean, very central and the owner was quite helpful and if you do get upgraded to the hotel, the lift works do not fear, although it does look like ancient history.
