Very poor When I arrived laden down with heavy luggage I had to wait about ten minutes for someone to let me in. The guy in charge was no-where to be seen so I was told to dump my bags on any vacant bed. I had booked a ten person dorm room but hours later I was moved to a stuffy room with 4 loud Italian teenage girls which isn't great when you have an 8am start. The radio in the kitchen was blaring till 3am. People were overall pretty unfriendly and cliquey and I won't be staying again. — Monique , England (2007-07-03)

I was lucky to find this place as i was stuck for a bed for the night. Phil traveled a long way back from the hills to book me and a couple of other late comers in. I found him a sound geezer and the place a comfortable setup with a light breakfast provided which was a boon. My stay was spoilt by a group of d*ckheads who rolled in drunk in the early hours turning the lights on and making loads of noise getting into bed. After a while of them yapping away offensively in bed things started getting thrown around and something landed on my bed so i told them to "f*** off" and all was quiet there after, until they got up a couple of hours later at 4 a.m. to catch what-ever they had to catch; the plague hopefully. — Chris Rigby (2006-10-11)

Best hostel in Ireland !
My name is Darek. I am a student and I come from Poland. I was in Ireland on last vacation and I stayed in couple of hostels. Mostly in centre of town. It was Issacs, Browns, Abraham House and others. But you can't even compare them to Marina House. Great great great everything ! Very good circs, cool kitchen, TV room, and so on. Lot of friendly people from all over the world. And of course best of all - Phil - the guy who runs this place. He helped me when I needed it - and I am really greatful for that. I hope to visit Marina House again with my girlfriend ;)

Enjoyed a few nights here at this social hostel. Easy access to Dublin on train from here. Owner very helpful gave us a 4 bed dorm to ourselves even though there were only 3 of us. Owner also came to check all was okay, and sat with us in the kitchen and chatted about places to see and showed us a map and recommended restaurants. Matresses/linen getting old and worn, but clean nonetheless. Shower not clean with mould/dirt on shower curtains - eeew! Kitchen can be crowded. Light breakfast was available for free which was unexpected. Website indicated internet was available, however when we asked about this we were told that the computer had been broken down for quite a while which was disappointing as this was one of the reason we had chosen this hostel. Good and bad points about this place, but all in all would probably stay here again. — Aussie Couple plus Mum (2006-01-13)

I had a great time in this hostel. There were a lot of people who had been living there for a long time, so I felt like I was the only "tourist." :-) Friendly staff, nice rooms. — Goo (2005-04-21)

Four years ago, I was lived here with a few friends from France, Spain, Sweden, and the USA. We stayed about 6 months, and had a great time. The site, the place, and all the facilities were fine. There was also a very good pub next door--very nice. I hope all the people going there enjoy it as much as I did. Au plaisir. — Marianne (2004-08-26)

The most enjoyable stay I have had in Dublin. But there are no small rooms. — MJK (2004-07-28)
