The old adage "Don't judge a book by its cover" certainly applies here at Hostel Revolution. The simple exterior of this hostel may not look like much but venture inside and you will be pleasantly surprised. This is a great hostel -- spacious and friendly -- but it is pretty small though so it is safest to book in advance as it is often fully booked.
The Location
This hostel is located on the borders of the Old and New Town making it ideally placed to explore in either direction. Whilst there is a public transport system it is easiest and possibly best to take a taxi from the bus terminal -- the fare is not very expensive and taxis are frequent. There are shops and restaurants all within easy walking distance of the hostel, along with a nice park offering spectacular views of the city.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The dorms are really spacious, airy, and bright and the bunks are large and comfy. The hostel is very clean and tidy and beds are made daily. The bathrooms are pleasant and the showers have plenty of hot water. The dorms are lockable by key and there are lockable draws underneath the bunks in which to keep valuables. Private rooms are available but do book in advance!
Common Spaces
The bar is located in the reception area, which also houses a weights bench and exercise bike! There is a lovely big, well-equipped kitchen should you decide to opt for self-catering. There are two computer terminals for guest use at no extra cost and free Wi-Fi for those with laptops. The hostel owners are friendly and happy to provide information and advice on activities and sights in the local area. There is a TV room furnished with sofas, TV, DVD player, and loads of DVDs for guests to borrow, as well as a rooftop terrace should you wish to relax outside. There is a book exchange located behind the bar.
Summary
Security here is good (guests are given a key to the front door and also to the dorm) and access to the premises can only be gained by key or by ringing the bell. This hostel is small, friendly, clean and comfortable, making for a pleasant stay during your time in Quito.
