The Hostelz.com Review
The old adage "Don't judge a book by its cover" certainly applies here at Hostel Revolution. The simple exterior of this hostel may not look like much but venture inside and you will be pleasantly surprised. This is a great hostel -- spacious and friendly -- but it is pretty small though so it is safest to book in advance as it is often fully booked.
The Location
This hostel is located on the borders of the Old and New Town making it ideally placed to explore in either direction. Whilst there is a public transport system it is easiest and possibly best to take a taxi from the bus terminal -- the fare is not very expensive and taxis are frequent. There are shops and restaurants all within easy walking distance of the hostel, along with a nice park offering spectacular views of the city.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The dorms are really spacious, airy, and bright and the bunks are large and comfy. The hostel is very clean and tidy and beds are made daily. The bathrooms are pleasant and the showers have plenty of hot water. The dorms are lockable by key and there are lockable draws underneath the bunks in which to keep valuables. Private rooms are available but do book in advance!
Common Spaces
The bar is located in the reception area, which also houses a weights bench and exercise bike! There is a lovely big, well-equipped kitchen should you decide to opt for self-catering. There are two computer terminals for guest use at no extra cost and free Wi-Fi for those with laptops. The hostel owners are friendly and happy to provide information and advice on activities and sights in the local area. There is a TV room furnished with sofas, TV, DVD player, and loads of DVDs for guests to borrow, as well as a rooftop terrace should you wish to relax outside. There is a book exchange located behind the bar.
Summary
Security here is good (guests are given a key to the front door and also to the dorm) and access to the premises can only be gained by key or by ringing the bell. This hostel is small, friendly, clean and comfortable, making for a pleasant stay during your time in Quito.

Double room not worth it, but hostel nice overall We checked this place out, but decided not to stay. For $24, all we got was a double bed and sheets -- no bath, no towels, and the rooms were FREEZING (no heaters). For exactly the same price, you can walk two blocks to another hostel and get a double room en-suite, heated, with towels, blankets, and even a TV if you fancy that sort of thing. — Denise , USA (2011-03-14)

Best hostel in Quito! We stayed at an overpriced place, which was too rowdy for us and was told about hostel revolution by another traveler where we are now staying. This hostel was small, chilled out with friendly staff and guests. Great views and a bbq on the terrace. It was kept very clean, the beds comfortable and the free wifi and internet worked well. Not a party hostel but a place to meet people of all ages and just relax, there is a bar (open until 11pm) with comfy beanbags. Cute dog too! excellent central location to the main plazas but not far from the mariscal. Maybe not the place for drunken 18year olds, but for us in our mid 20s it was perfect, best hostal we have stayed at in Ecuador. — Byron and Alice , Wales (2011-01-07)

Great Really good value hostel, nice rooms with comfy beds, good communal facilities. great location for old and new parts of town and really safe and secure. — Chris and Alison , Scottish (2007-09-20)

Chilled, relaxed, clean, and friendly Was very cool, the most chilled place I've stayed in and the beds were so comfy! — Ali Wood , Scotland (2007-08-21)

Cozy, comfortable yet fun The owner's super-cool, as well as all the people I met while I stayed there. Matt's knowledgeable about Quito, helpful with everything, and just plain nice. Considering how small the staff is, the hostel is kept very clean and the beds were some of the warmest, most comfortable I've ever slept in. And the rooms were beautiful. Check out the detailed molding and ceilings if you go, which you should. Oh and it's in located in Old Town, which in my opinion is way cooler than New Town. All conveniences are close by. — Abby , United States (2007-07-29)

Superb Really clean and newly refurbished, with friendly and helpful staff. Very relaxed feel about it, perfectly located to easily hit the new town, but has the atmosphere of old, more traditional Ecuador. Very comfortable and recommended. — Nick Brown , England (2007-07-01)

We stayed here for two months and we enjoyed it very much. The owner is a very friendly and obliging guy from australia. He delivered us with useful information about Quito and thanks to him we didn't have to pay entry in a few cool bars in town because he's friends with the owner. Furthermore the rooms are clean and there is hot water all day. — Matthias and Lisi , Germany (2007-04-30)
