Pedro's is the cheapest and craziest place to stay on San Pedro. It boasts a full service restaurant and is a lively place to hang out. The food is the best on the Island with a michelin star level chef. The best pizzas in the country are served here at a cheaper price than anywhere else. Yes the swimming pool is down at the moment due to the building of a/c rooms and the accommodation is basic but very clean. The place is great and whosover say different is expecting five-star accommodation at less money than the mainland. They arrange tours, fishing, diving, and really look after you. It is the place to stay in town.

Pedro's Backpackers Inn/Hostel offered so much. The simple variety of crazy women on-site offered a complete array of parties and good times to be had by all. Totally private...totally a good time...

My greivance is that it is NOT what it is advertised to be. Reading the description (above) one would think it is close to the beach ~ not true. For $12.50 US I can stay in a room with a shared bath ON the beach! Guess it boils down to honest advertising.

Pedro's is great; I could have stayed all week. It is spotless and cheap. A great location, and the owner pays for your cab when you arrive. It's good fun--it's very basic, but what more do you need? It's like being at camp again, and for $10 what do you expect?! I was so pleased when we turned up here--I'm even going back in a week!

I spent 4 nights and got what I paid for. I got a clean bed in a clean room and a shared bathroom (always clean). I do have some beefs. It's not a perfect place by any means. I wish there was a bar and recreation room on site. On site internet would have been nice too.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hostel December 2003. I felt that this hostel has misrepresented itself. I found this hostel on another website and under facilities it says, breakfast included, restaurant, car parking, internet access, laundry, credit cards accepted, towels, security lockers, children friendly, telephone/fax facilities, 24 hour reception and travel desk/travel info. It also mentions a nightly BBQ. When we got there, the manager, Jacob, charged me the whole amount and did not deduct the deposit I paid you via the internet. There is NOT a nightly BBQ, there isn't a kitchen so breakfast is NOT included, there is NOT a restaurant on the premises, and there is NOT internet access/phone/fax facilities at the establishment. As for the 24 hour reception and travel desk/travel info, one night we locked ourselves out and when we asked if they could let us into the building, the manager (Jacob) wasn't there, so we asked the owner (Peter), he answered the door with, "What the hell do you want?" My boyfriend explained that we had accidentally locked ourselves out and he said "What the f**k do you want me to do about it?" At that point, we decided he wasn't going to be any help and just waited for an hour for another person who was staying there to let us in. After staying there for a few nights, we decided to get different accommodations. I feel that I should to let other people know about this so they don't have the same problems. Belize is beautiful and worth going, but find a better place to stay!

We stayed for 1 week. It was early March, no mosquitoes. I had heard that they can get bad in the wet season but March is dry and we had a great time. Clean, comfortable. Airstrip noise started 7:00am but we were up and about by then. Most of the tours start early. The owner (Peter) is great fun, David and I enjoyed his company a lot and he was a mine of good information.

If you don't care about 1 million mosquitoes, mud, lack of privacy and noise you can take a taxi (this so-called hotel is far away), pay 5$ and check in there. I bet the next day you will check out.
