4 Good people party atmosphere!
I booked into the planet inn for three days then extended it to ten and ended up staying six months. The atmosphere and people i have met are next to no other i have ever met. The friendships i have made and truly lifelong. I have been to hostels before but never to one where everyone fitted in so well. Wherever people are from or what interests are, everyone sits down and has a drink and a laugh together. Nobody is ever alone or left out. Friday nights are the best. Everybody gets together and has a BBQ and drinks and has a bit of a session where there are always a few guitars. The staff are great too and go out of the way to help. They always find a way to make things easier from running to the bar to serve everyone to dropping bus loads of people into town on a saturday night. If there is something they can do they will. And they will even have a drink and a chat with everyone after their shift. there is a very personal approach and you don't feel like you are being babysat! anyone planning on coming to Perth should stay at the Planet Inn if they are up for fun and meeting some interesting people. It is a place to build some memories.

1 This is the first hostel review i have given after three months in Australia, i had to tell people what a hole this hostel is. The receptionist was downright rude, we had to ask three times for sheets for our beds that had crappy old mattresses with dead bugs all over them. My room was smelly and very untidy, the whole hostel was dirty, bedrooms/bathrooms/kitchen/public areas. I cannot believe they get away with charging $25/27 per night. The only redeeming factor was the friendly other guests we met. I would not recommend this place in any way.

5 Went from a hostel to a home in a few weeks
I first rolled up to the Planet Inn in Feb 2005 and probably like most the people that stayed in Planet Inn when you pull up to a bright Blue and Green building you start to wonder if you have the made the right choice and to be honest it was pure luck that we ended up in the planet inn as it was the only hostel that had a free airport pick up. I would never have guessed that i would go and come back to this hostel so many times, i think i probably spent a total of a year in the Planet Inn and I enjoyed every minute of it. As a backpacker i was not expecting the Ritz and i don't think any of the other people I met were either (except one bloke that did ask when breakfast was served). What makes Planet Inn such a great place is that it has a relaxed atmosphere, Friendly staff, has organised activities, give advice and help on any trips that you may want to do, and feels more like a home than any other backpackers i have ever stayed in. I made some life long friends whilst i was in the planet inn and thanks to those friends I stayed around long enough in Perth to meet my future husband and many of these friends will be with us to help celebrate. I will never forget my time in the Hostel as it has made me the person I am today. As we all used to say, "you will never be lonely in the Planet Inn!"

5 The best Hostel I ever stayed in, more like home.
This was safely the best hostel we stayed in all of Oz. We landed in Perth at 6 a.m. where the Planet Inn bus picked us up free of charge. We met the best crowd here who are now friends for life. What was supposed to be a three- or four-day stay turned into us staying for two months and then it broke our hearts to leave. Planet Inn is a small, small hostel with a huge warm welcome and something always to do. We spent Xmas and New Year here, which was one of the best ever with singsongs and barbecues organised by the Inn. Not to mention seventies parties. Nowhere else in Oz did we have such a good time in a hostel. I recommend here highly if you want somewhere small, reasonable, and extremely good fun.

5 Best time I had in Oz
I landed in perth after coming from South East Asia and had booked into Planet Inn through hostelz.com. In a group of four we had planned to stay in perth for only a week. But after a few nights in the Inn our plans changed. The warmest of welcomes, friendly guests made us right at home straight away. Planet does not have the fancy pools, clinically clean rooms that the big Corporate run hostels have on offer. But what planet Inn lacks in facilities it more than makes up for with Character, Friendly staff, great nights out arranged, and an atmosphere that makes you feel like you're part of a family. Oh and by the way a week turned into three months. I miss planet Inn.

5 Two very enthusiastic thumbs up
Planet Inn is an awesome awesome hostel. It may not be the cleanest around, but then neither is it the dirtiest. However this is a party hostel and what makes it shine above and beyond all other hostels I have stayed at are the people and the atmosphere. The staff are great, friendly, and helpful and will help you book any tours your after and give you all the information you need. The people there will always open you with open arms and include you, everyone gets sucked in. The amount of people who came for a short period and never left is incredible. When I was there I was so unsure at first, but I ended up with a tight crew of friends, who are my friends for life, and so many other friends and acquaintances along the way. What i have noticed talking to other people who have been there long before i was, and long after i left, is that they have all found the same thing. This is a place where you can truly belong, whoever you are, fast friends are made and great memories are guaranteed. I would recommend it to anyone.

5 Great!
This hostel changed my life! i was just going to stay for one or two weeks but ended up staying for eight months! The people are great and the staff are great. the rooms were ok but you can't expect much in a hostel! I spent my christmas with Planet Inn and it was a home away from home but really hot! I had the best time of my life and met many of friends that i still keep in contact with! I will be back for sure.

4 When I came from Dubai and was without a prior booking, I called from the airport for a pickup and was told that I should come using the airport shuttle since their vehicle is not available and that I would be refunded the cost of shuttle (15 AD$) if I stayed for two days minimum. I had to stay in a doubles room as singles were fully booked. People are very good and friendly but the place is somewhat unclean (yet clean enough for a party hostel). Only the shabbiness is a bit of a turndown but the toilets are surprisingly clean. Socializing opportunities are plenty for those who know how to approach. Since I couldn't find a singles room, I left after two days. They gave me the shuttle refund, as promised! If you do not mind some mess and are looking for something very cheap and personal, close to the city centre, then planet inn is the place! Dont expect everything to be served on a platter in the most inexpensive place in perth, wiggle your lazy ass a bit and planet inn is at your service.

1 We managed to spend one night out of two in this sh*thole, which was a miracle. The staff was unprofessional, rude, useless, and unpleasant. The free pick up at the station forgot about us, we had to call them to remind them of our arrival when they finally arrived forty-five minutes late. Then they were unable to allocate us beds in the same room. But the staff was nothing compared to the cleanliness of the place. We have traveled a lot and stayed in many hostels round the world and never had seen such a filthy place! The rooms were so messy and dirty, we couldn't even find our beds, one of them was actually a destroyed mattress on the floor in the middle of a smelly room. Apparently, bedbugs were very common which was not surprising seeing the state of the whole hostel. This was not really an hostel, more a squat where people live and go to work in the whereabouts. We really do not recommend that place, if you wanna spend a good night sleep in Perth, better spend a few extra bucks and go stay somewhere else a little bit more decent.

1 What a sh*t hole! We paid to stay for one week but wanted to leave after the first night, the rooms where so dirty, there were lots of bedbugs, the place just basically needed one big clean! If you wanna stay in a hell hole then go for it, otherwise stay clear!

3 I am a tourist from Canada. I visited for six days starting from November 23, 2006. Australia was the last country in my three-country tour. I found that this hostel indeed was filthier than it should have been. The mattress had various stains on it, as did the bathrooms and showers. Fortunately, I did not have to use the kitchen. A few times however all the toilets ran out of toilet paper. I found that in this hostel, if you wanted to be left alone, they left you alone. But if you wanted to socialize, you have to initiate. This is because most of their tenants -- not visitors -- tenants have been there for quite a long time and they all mostly know each other well already. Also when I asked Tony the Manager, to help us book a trip to Rottsnest Island for scuba diving, he told us to do it ourselves. Planet Inn should stop advertising that they book tours and activities. Overall it was not so good but not so bad either. The free airport pickup is the reason I went with this Hostel.

2 First, when the guy from the backpacker picked me up at the airport, he didn't introduce himself or say hello. In the way to the backpacker he didn't try to speak with me. That was a bit rude. When I arrived in my room, it was a big mess on the floor, I couldn't walk through. My mattress was old and ripped with bedbugs. You can't bring your own alcohol because they want you to buy alcohol in their bar (more expensive). The kitchen is too small and there is almost nothing to cook, so you have to wash pans before start cooking. I gave two stars because of the price, only 17$/night.

1 I booked myself into this hostel for a week based on the reviews of this site and I was shocked at how misleading they are! The manageress is rude and makes little effort to understand someone with an accent, the state of the hostel is terrible -- rooms are freezing, holes in the ceiling, two smelly cats running around, and the kitchen is disgusting. It also takes anyone who walks by, at least 70% of the people staying there are australians who just move from town to town trying to find work, there was also a pregnant girl there who was allowed to stay as long as she likes. The beds are old and the mattresses are a mess. Also don't try booking anything through them -- they haven't a clue about what they are selling. This was an awful start to my trip and having to stick this place was almost enough to send me home!

5 Well!! This hostel changed my life! I went backpacking to try and get some self confidence and all that stuff, about myself. I went to this hostel with the intention of staying a few days and ended up here for three months! The people I met will never be forgotten - and I ended up feeling so comfortable around people that i forgot to be shy in the end - some might say i was the loudest person there! The good thing is that even if you are considered a 'long termer' like I was, there is nothing cliquey going on - when i arrived i was dragged to the pub within five minutes by the current long termers and made to feel very welcome - so when i became long term, i made sure that i did the same to newcomers!! Tony was my surrogate Dad whilst i was there, even lecturing me to tidy my room lol! the staff are amazing and so friendly - we used to sit up for hours with Tony just drinking, playing the guitar and general silliness! most of the time i had a better night staying in at the hostel than going out, cos it was a complete blast! The day tours to 'wamobt' and wineries, freo prison etc etc...will never be forgotten. and I will be back!! sooner rather than later if poss. can't reccommend this place enough, ok so its brightly coloured, and the rooms can be a wee bit messy, but its the feel of the place that will seal the deal - ledgendary times to be had by all, make sure you stay!!

5 Best Hostel I stayed in. It was 10 bucks a night and thats unbeatable... everybody is friendly, or drunk but thats even better. when you wake up in the morning you can be sure you'll see someone going to bed. and that's good most of the times it was me seeing people getting up in the morning when i went to bed... =) i love the stuff it's a huge family and everybody can be part of it. i lost a lot of money because i really suck on australian pool tables, and playing tournaments makes ya losse money really easy. But it's worth. they are allowed to sell beer that's nice, you can get pissed and fall asleep at the same place. i did that too often. met some wonderful people there, big hug to everybody in the team, keef, james, and all you guys. was one of the best times i had in WA! I'LL COME BACK!
