The Hostelz.com Review
The Location
It's about a fifteen-minute walk east from the Ravenna train station but buses #70 and 80 will take you to V. Nicolodi, where the hostel is located. There is a Co-op (grocery store) directly across the street. The neighborhood is nice and quiet, but the Centro of Ravenna is located on the west side of the train station. The majority of restaurants and tourist places are located in the Centro, which can be reached by a twenty-minute walk or buses #70 and 80. Marina di Ravenna, with its beaches and seaside attractions, is located eight kilometers away -- another quick and easy bus ride.
Rooms and Facilities
There are dormitory rooms with four beds, singles, and family rooms. There are showers and bathrooms located on each floor. On the same floor as the reception there is the dining room, a game room with a foosball table and board games, and a lounge room with couches and a TV. Breakfast is included.
Social Atmosphere
The hostel is very casual, friendly, and calm. The staff is very helpful and has information about the area. Bikes can be rented at the front desk
Summary
Ostello Dante in Ravenna is a wonderful place to stay. It has a great location because it is easily accessible by bus but also has a quiet atmosphere for those wishing to get some rest. The Co-op across the street is highly valuable to most traveling on a budget.

YHA style This is a good priced hostel. Paid 14€ the night for a four-bed dorm. Breakfast is very nice for an Italian YHA hostel. The problem is that they do not fix anything concerning the bathrooms and WC's. Means first of all when taking a shower in the men section, you can close it behind you, but it is a glass door, so you can look through both ways. Four of the five WC's can't be locked. Wi-Fi did not work and nobody knew how to fix it. The lockers in the room needed to be fixed -- or better, replaced -- but they have a very good safety box system for your wallet and passport at the reception. It is a good and cheap option for budget travelers. Hosteling experience as normal as it can be. — opb.travel (2008-05-04)

Generally good. Some things should be clear -- the internet wasn't free as said, the showers needs to be fixed (all the showerheads in the men's floor were broken!), and the location is kinda bad. However, the breakfast was fulfilling (bread, butter, cake, coffee, orange juice, two types of cereals), there's a big, spacey common room, and the coolest thing ever -- there are free bicycles! So you can get a pair from the receptionist and in ten minutes arrive to the city center, tie the bike to something, and stroll around. And if there aren't enough bikes, there are pairs all over the city to be used by tourists. It's really cool! if you want to get back after 11 p.m. you have to get a card that costs like 1EU. There are safeboxes -- 20CE per day but a real cool thing. The rooms are nice (four beds) and there is a cheap and tasty take away pizza ten minutes away. There is also a big supermarket right in front of the hostel. About Ravenna -- it's only a place for those interested in the mosaics (beautiful) and maybe to do some day trips to Bologna or Ferrara or Rimini. But it doesn't have much to offer other than that, cause the city itself is not so nice. I would recommend coming for two days, seeing all the mosaics, and spend the rest of the days in Ferrara maybe. — Ofir (2006-10-21)

Nowhere on the site does it warn you about the lockout from 10 to 5. I was struck by how genuinely maternal the staff is to EVERYONE even after answering the same questions hundreds of times a day. They have a great little hand marked map of the neighborhood. Definitely get take-out pizza and "Bus Stop Beach" to Punta di Ravenna was my favorite. The Adriatic is like a warm bath with schools of micro fish all around you. Also, there is a huge and cheap co-op grocery store right across the street. — Julie (2005-11-24)

Great place to stay and spend a few nights on the way of your holidays! Good breakfast and clean rooms also. Halfway between the city centre and the beaches (just 15 minutes away, great thing during the summer). I suggest you to go there! — David (2005-06-19)

I stayed here for one week in early August 2004. This was probably the best hostel I stayed at in Italy. It was very, very, very clean and the staff were very helpful and good fun. (I was amazed at how the staff could switch from one language to another — English, German, Spanish, and French.) The common room was very welcoming, and cozy (it had Internet, a pool table, cafe/bar, book crossing area, and microwave) and the room was excellent. The area is quiet and safe, and you can walk into town in 15 minutes. I met a lot of people that I will never forget. The atmosphere is what makes this hostel simply a great hostel. I would highly recommend staying here! — Simon (2004-12-26)

Good place to be. It is near the train station, but it takes some effort to find because it is located in a place that is hard to find. So, it is better to take a bus there for the first time, and then find your way gradually. In a word, good hostel, good city. — Anonymous (2004-08-24)

Great hostel. I met lovely people here, and had a great time. Ravenna is a beautiful city. Also, don't forget to check out the beach! Because Ravenna is not so famous, it is more quiet than those metropolitan cities, and the people are very willing to help you out with directions and finding the hostel! Definitely recommended!! — Elja (2004-08-04)

Great place to stay. They are really generous with the breakfest. The TV room is very cosy, and the game room is nice as well. The beds are quite solid, which is good. If you go there during the low season, you can even get a room with toilet for 13.5 euro! — Jerry (2004-01-18)
