Good location, staff spoke fine english and were friendly. No bunks, single beds which is a plus. Water in bathrooms is crap on time delay button and bad pressure, as someone said they dont stay clean. Not really much in Modena, only good for getting to Bologna. Hostel is in a horrible ugly institution like building with bad lighting. Rooms are hot.

The only highlight of this hostel is that it's very close to the train station, on a quiet street. The staff was icy indeed and barely spoke English. It seems that this hostel is mainly used by student groups and younger Italians in Modena looking for work, so if you're travelling alone, don't expect to meet anyone. The rooms are basic and clean enough, but the bathrooms get dirty very quickly. Also, not very good water pressure. And our room was stifling! No air circulation whatsoever. Modena itself is an ok city. not many tourists, and people in general here seem to be a bit chilly. Everything closes fairly early, so there's not much nightlife to enjoy, either. Like I said, though, this hostel is in an excellent location to catch a train to Parma or Bologna, and there's also direct trains to Milano at the station. All in all, a good base for travelling, but not much beyond that.

Good location. Very close to the old city center. Staff a bit icy. Very nice bathrooms -- they aren't in the rooms but are a bunch of separate rooms each with one toilet, sink, and shower. So, although, they are shared, they are private when you want to use them. My locker was a bit dodgy but still kept my stuff safe.

We came here after spending a disastrous night in Bologna's hostel, and were pleasantly surprised. The first thing we were happy about was its location, only a five-minute walk from the train station (Bologna take notice).
The hostel was very clean, and the corridors had a hotel feel to them. We had a room with three beds, but there were only two of us staying there. It didn't seem very busy, and the common room was always quiet at nights. They did have a phone there though, which was useful.
The city is fairly quiet but very nice. There was some sort of festival on when we went and we saw this military concert. The staff are also very friendly. Highly recommended!

This hostel was very clean and calm. The rooms are very comfortable and you get a big closet that locks to put your stuff in. it was much less institutional than most HI hostels. The TV room isn't the most welcoming but it's good enough. The bathrooms are big and very clean. The hostel is also very close to the train station and the city center, which is sometimes rare for HI hostels. The staff are friendly, too. There was no breakfast, though.

This hostel was very clean and quiet. We were told to follow the signs from the train station, but the only two we found seemed to take us in a round about way to the hostel. The people there were very nice and explained to us how to get the Ferrari factory, and they gave us a pass for a student discount, which was really cool!

Located in a fairly nondescript area, but the proximity to the train station is a bonus (approx. 5-10 minute walk) and a 10 minute walk to the town centre. It's a very "institutional" hostel - the rooms are very basic and the common/tv room doesn't make you want to hang out there. The bathroom facilities are modern but very dirty. I don't really know why the hostel closes during the day for a few hours as there was very little evidence of any cleaning! The staff are friendly however.
