The Hostelz.com Review
Milhouse is a centrally located, fantastic party hostel where you will feel guilty for sleeping! Music is on 24-hours a day and there are always people up wanting to talk, dance, watch a movie, cook up a meal etc. The atmosphere is therefore extremely social! Every morning, the staff makes a list of important activities for the day, including walking tours and special events around the city. They do a great job informing you of what is hot in the city.
The amenities in this hostel are amazing. They have two decent computers with Internet access (20 minute limit when others are waiting), laundry service, a travel agency downstairs, telephone services, a good breakfast (bread rolls with butter, jam, dulce de leche, cereal, banana with tea and coffee), a bar, and digital TV amongst other things. Each night is also a different activity such as dance party, karaoke night, tango lessons, etc. Definitely a hostel for those that want non-stop fun and excitement right at home!
The rooms vary from those that face the inner courtyard, to those that face the street. Try to get a room that faces the courtyard, as you will find it much quieter than the ones that face the street (you will hear buses all night long if you're a light sleeper). There's no air conditioning during the summer, but there are fans in the rooms. There are many new style bathrooms that are kept very clean. And the showers are nice and hot.
One thing about the hostel is it is close to a sex cinema, so you will hear the groans from the movies in some parts of the hostel (which most people would consider to be a bad thing).

Smoke Rooms and bathrooms are fabulous. However, the common areas were so full of smoke that I got sick. Smallest kitchen ever. There were four forks, three knives and four plates for one hundred-fifty-five people to share. Lots of activities, but some of the staff were a bit rude. Wouldn't recommend this place to a nonsmoker. — Tom , USA (2009-04-23)

Kindergarten. Average age is about seventeen to twenty-three, mental age younger. If that's you and its your first time outta home, go for it! Spring break americans, and lots of other kids. Also a major money-making operation. McHostal is right! — Antonio , Irish (2007-04-03)
I stayed here twice in September 2006 and some of the staff on both occasions were as anal as they could be. The place seems to be taken over by large traveling groups and that makes it difficult as an independent solo traveler to get to know people. Definitely didn't live up to the hype it had been given for me. — Geebsie (2007-03-03)
Whatever people say about this hostel, the advantages are outweighed by the anal rules. The rude staff will help you with nothing and treat the guests like children. Do not stay here. — Daniel Curtis (2007-01-06)
although is in the center, I think it's noisy (it's beside a sex cinema, drunk people that get into the room at 7 a.m. talking), there's so much people smoking in the common area -- disgusting -- and the staff seems only concerned about european people that spend a lot of money with beer. — adriana chaves (2006-10-08)

This hostel was good fun a great place to go if u are travelling by yourself as you meet lots of people. The hostel is kept very well & the dorms are a little small but the private rooms are great & spacious. — Dion & Av (2006-01-30)
This McHostel is all right if you're into getting drunk every night, etc. If you're in BA for a long time, you might check it out for a couple days, just because it's become such an institution. But I wouldn't recommend it generally — you feel like you're in an American college dorm or something, certainly not what I came to South America for. BA has a lot of great stuff to offer; these people have finely crafted the art of taking money from masses of European and American party-ers. — Patrick Walsh (2005-12-01)

Nice and centric and all, but so much alcohol that you almost always wakes up by people shouting or vomiting or tossing waste baskets. — Caroline (2005-06-22)

I stayed in this hostel for ten days! It was an absolutely wonderful place and I had so many great experiences. If your travelling alone this is the place to be. The staff was great and there were events planned every single night that I was there. The rooms are kept very clean. I always look for a good shower and they had it. People from all around the world stay there. If you are an English speaker, you will definitely fit in. Give it a try! You might like it. You might even stay longer than expected. — Lisa (2005-06-17)

I cannot say one bad word about this hostel. What an amazing vibe, fantastic staff who go beyond the call of duty, clean premises... I could go on forever!
We didn't want to leave the hostel to look around BA it was so fun! Highly recommend it. Easily the best hostel in the world that I have been to. — Georgie (2005-05-10)

I've traveled around the world and this is by far the best hostel I've stayed in. I wasn't really on a tight budget, and I stayed in a double room, so I won't comment on cost, but I understand it is a bit expensive if you are on a strict budget. But it is well worth the cost — it's very clean, the staff are really friendly and helpful, it has well organized tours and a great chilled-out bar, which makes everyone staying there very relaxed and friendly, and it's so easy to mix. Buenos Aires is a great city and I think this hostel helped make it great for me. Keep it up! — Paul (2005-04-06)
Awful, noisy and when I finally got in (they messed up my reservation and I had to find somewhere else for the first night) the staff were unapologetic and only really seemed to want my money. It does have a large common area, but the kitchen and TV area are inadequate for the 100-plus beds. As for the porn cinema next door.... Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. — Mark (2005-03-23)
I made my booking via this site, and due to a little problem missed my first night and wasn't able to contact them. So I arrive the second night and find my bed has been given away, there were to be none free for the next few days, and I was also to be charged on my credit card, despite them making money from my bed anyway. Apparently it's somewhere in the small print. What a shower of bastards. — Jim (2005-03-12)
My friend reserved and paid for 4 nights, turned up a day late and was told his room had been given to someone else. They refused to refund his money for the 3 remaining nights. I think that sums up the hostel. They want your money but don't give the service. The choice is yours, there are plenty of better places. — Dave (2005-03-05)

This is the most amazing hostel I have ever stayed in. It's a non-stop party but with an equally chilled vibe during the day. The common area transforms itself into a buzzing bar type place in the evenings before everyone heads out to the clubs. Good value and free breakfast and Internet. It rocks! — Alex (2005-01-27)
