The Hostelz.com Review
Hostel Possonium is a great little gem in Bratislava. It has a great atmosphere, and you'll be welcomed by its friendly staff upon arrival. The hostel is playfully designed, with bright colors and dorm rooms named after various countries.
The Location
Hostel Possonium is easily accessible, though it is very difficult to find when first arriving. Look for a blue vertical sign on the left side of the road when arriving from the airport. It's a thirty-minute bus ride from the airport, and you can grab the bus right outside the airport exit. Although the hostel is a little ways from the Old City -- approximately a fifteen-minute walk - it's one of the closest hostels to that part of Bratislava. Many of the main tram and bus lines run nearby, so transportation around the city is fairly convenient.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms in the hostel are clean, colorful, and come with lockable lockers. Large enough to store a big backpack in, these are very convenient for all valuables. Most of the dorm rooms come with bunk beds of six to ten beds per room, and sheets, pillows, and pillowcases are provided free of charge.
The bathrooms are clean and are stocked with soap, which is always a plus. There are typically two to three bathrooms per floor, which are shared among three rooms of eight to ten beds each. The showers are inside the bathrooms and are very clean. Supplied with plenty of hooks, though relatively few shelves, the bathrooms rate high.
Common Spaces
This hostel offers a lot of common space, and can be a very social hostel when full. It offers a small sitting area in the reception with one computer with complimentary internet access, a good sized kitchen with cooking supplies, a great back patio with benches and tables, and a downstairs bar. The bar is a great place to go in the early evening to get to know fellow backpackers. The reception is happy is store your luggage for you, in addition to helping you out with directions, recommendations, and more. Also, a light breakfast of cereal, coffee, and tea is set out in the reception for guests every morning.
Summary
Overall, Hostel Possonium is a laid-back, memorable, social hostel. It attracts a chill backpacker crowd, so come here if you want to check out Bratislava, stay in a funky hostel, and meet people!

Cheap, nice, clean, convenient Just across from the international train station. Great place with tacky country themed rooms -- nightwish stickers and norther lights posters in the finland room. This is honestly the first hostel I had to stay in and I was more than pleasantly surprised. Showed up last minute and they managed to find me a bed, at 15 euros which was more than reasonable. The rooms were regular and the locker big enough to fit all my stuff, including a thirty-litre messenger bag, an eighty-litre pack, jackets, and food. Kitchen was well equipped and the internet was literally the fastest I had ever used anywhere, no curfew. Which was good, but a bit of a bitch when the four empty beds in my room started filling up at about 3 in the morning. Otherwise very clean, relaxing stay. They even let me come back and use the internet for a couple of hours after I had checked out, gone across the street, and realized my train was going to be a few hours late. No complaints. — david bradford , canadian (2009-10-16)

Excellent place to stay! It is close to the train station, easily reached by twenty minutes by bus from the airport. Beds are so comfortable, staff is nice, free internet, clean shower, and you absolutely have to eat a homemade pancake next door! So cheap and so good, ask the staff they will tell you where it is. After two days in Bratislava, you don't have much more to do. — Marie-Pier , Canada (2008-01-09)

Have just left after a stay of three nights. The hostel is close to the main train station and within walking distance of the old town and castle (not a short walk though). The room was clean, the bathroom spotless and large, and the free internet great as was the small backyard where you can smoke. Unfortunately the kitchen didnt have a fridge that i could see, limiting its usefulness, and there was no sign of the breakfast advertised on their brochure. But whoever's on reception will make you an espresso if you ask. Most annoying feature would be the friends of the hostel staff who come over in the evening to drink and make lots of noise in the backyard (unfortunately I had a room that backed onto the yard). Also, no maps or other tourist info for the guests. For the most part though, not a bad hostel and I'd definitely consider staying there again. — Penny , Sydney (2007-04-18)

Clean and quiet hostel that's a ten-minute walk from the train station, bus loop, and tram loop. The staff were all nice, even the cleaning lady, even if some of them spoke little or no English. Even though it was a bit on the small side, the kitchen was great. Recommended. — Joss , British Columbia, Canada (2007-04-14)

I had a couple of the worst nights since I have been traveling in three months here, but that wasn't the hostel's fault. I had some idiot roomies who thought it was acceptable to come home at 5 in the morning and be talking loudly, laughing and joking and mucking around when others were trying to sleep (I did ask a few times if they could keep the noise down but they didn't). this went on for over an hour. I asked at reception to be moved (I wasn't the only person) and the girl was helpful and put me in another room. The reception staff were great (a couple of them have limited English but you should be ok) and helpful with tips on nightlife/eating. It is about four minutes' walk from the main station and a ten-minute walk into town. The hostel is really new and so all the furniture is nice, clean pine. The lockers are large. Nice kitchen, small common area by reception. There is free internet (and unlike most places that offer free internet, it is really fast) but the computer is by the reception so it doesn't offer a lot of privacy. The bathrooms are very clean (one or two blockage problems when I was there in the shower though). I am convinced this must be the best hostel in Slovakia. All the dorms are named after countries instead of room numbers which is cool but come on, an England dorm would have been better than a Vatican dorm. — Dan , United Kingdom (2007-04-03)
