All in all, this hostel has the
potential to be cool. Maybe. There's a dining room, a small but handy kitchen, an outdoor terrace and a common room with a TV.
But beyond that, if you're looking for a touch of boot camp in your travelling experience, then the Funky Chicken is the place for you. The hostel gives one the feeling of being an unwelcome houseguest; staff go out of their way to yell at people, and are generally cold and unfriendly. The entire place has a general vibe of 'tread lightly or go home'.
The facilities include only one shower, one toilet, and one combined toilet-and-shower, which would be quite inadequate if the place were full. And the common room shares a thin door with one of the dorm rooms, so at night that dorm can be very loud.
It is, however, the most central hostel in Bucharest, as well as a hair cheaper (1 to 2 euro) than the other Bucharest hostels. And it's by far the easiest to get to (only a five to ten minute walk from Gara de Nord train station with no need for trams or busses). If convenience is what you're looking for, it might be worthwhile; otherwise, consider staying elsewhere.
