Hostelz.com's Review
Simply put, Far Out Beach Club is amazing! It is impossible to stay here without falling in love with the place, the people, and the parties.]

The Location

Far Out Beach Club is located about fifteen minutes' car ride away from the port in Ios. They have vans to pick you up as soon as the ferry is landed, and to bring you back to the port for your departing ferry. The hostel is about a five-minute bus ride from the village, and the local bus is extremely cheap and runs daily until 10:15 p.m. If you feel like walking, you can stroll along the beach for about twenty minutes before hitting the village. The hostel is about five steps from Mylopotas beach, putting you practically on the water.

Rooms and Bathrooms

There is a huge variety of rooms to choose from at Far Out, and all are extremely cheap. You can choose to camp out under the stars (in your own tent or a rented one), or stay in a bed tent, BLT, double bungalow, or triple bungalow. They also have hotel style rooms. The triple bungalow is fabulous, with a king and single bed and plenty of room, plus a pretty solid locking wood door. The BLT's are quite nice as well, but be warned that anything going on inside will be heard by all the neighbours. There are several bathroom facilities spread around the hostel, all of them spacious and clean, and the shower water pressure is quite good. There are also places to wash your own clothes by hand, or a decently priced laundry service.

Common Spaces

The common spaces are what make Far Out so amazing for a hostel. There are two in-ground pools as well as water slides. There is also a great poolside bar that shows a movie every night at 8 and that has awesome food all day long (even if it is a bit pricey). Hammocks are sprinkled around the hostel, lounging chairs surround the pools, and beach chairs and umbrellas line the beach, turning Far Out into a paradise. There is also a reception with several computers, and the internet is quite cheap.

However, this is not somewhere you go to experience Greek culture. Ios is about partying until 6 in the morning, waking at 2 in the afternoon and lounging pool- or beach-side all day long. It has a resort-like feel, while being extremely cheap and full of crazy, young, and interesting backpackers from around the world.

Far Out Beach Club will probably be one of the best hostels you will ever stay at. The location is breathtaking, the mainly Aussie staff are great, the prices are better than you ever expected, and the people you meet are amazing. The one problem is that food on the island is a little expensive, but most people are living on a liquid party diet anyway so it isn't too much of an issue. If you are going to Ios, Far Out is the place to be!
