The Beez Kneez is a small hostel located several blocks from downtown Whitehorse. Despite having been converted from a two-storey home, the building and property have been arranged to optimize sleeping and living space. Both dorm-style and private accommodations are available inside the house, with additional private rooms available in a pair of small cabins in the back yard.
Standard amenities include two washrooms, two shower stalls (conveniently separated from the washrooms), a shared kitchen with cupboard and refrigerator space to spare, and a washer/dryer pair which accepts oversized loads. The washroom, kitchen and laundry areas are virtually spotless. The bedrooms are large enough, but there are no storage bins inside the rooms, so your belongings must be stashed on the floor out of the way of the other guests. The beds themselves are a reasonable size (standard single or larger; no mini-bunks), but the bedding seems to be a mish mash of random blankets that are too small for the beds. The common areas are large, tidy, and comfortable, with enough seating throughout the house for every guest. There is a living room on each floor with plenty of couch space as well as a small CD collection upstairs and a selection of used books downstairs. There is no television. Both the front and the back yards are fenced in, the back being dominated by a raised deck with an eating area on top and ample bicycle parking underneath.
On top of these standards, Beez Kneez offers free high speed internet access and free coffee as well as free bicycle "rentals." Several staff members live on site, and every employee we met during our stay is extremely friendly and accommodating.
Beez Kneez is located in the Southwestern corner of the city. From the South Access Road (Robert Service Way), turn left on 4th Ave and take the second left onto Hoge. Downtown Whitehorse is only two minutes away by bike and less than ten on foot. There is a small twenty-four-hour food store within a five-minute walk.
