Bad area, good wifi, rooms clean and roomy but strange staff
This place ... I have two minds about it. First the good. Great wi-fi in rooms. Nice bright rooms. There was also a really nice balcony with table to eat breakfast. View was just other buildings. Beds are comfy. If you are coming from Albania, the place where the buses drop you off is pretty close walking distance. The hostel is also walking distance to the main tourist areas of Athens -- maybe 20 minutes. It is also five minutes to the metro. There is a kitchen and a very small common room. There is a small kitchen as well. It is very secure. You get buzzed in to the building and to the hostel. However, a lot of times the door was open already. BAD -- It is in a very bad neighborhood of Athens. Taxi drivers will not go there at night. But during the day and early evening, we felt very safe. Something was biting us in the beds. I think bed bugs but we never caught one so we can't say for sure. We just found blood where we swatted. It was not mosquitoes. So check your mattresses before you stay. Our room was the last room on the opposite side of the kitchens as far away as you can get. There were a lot of showers and toilets. Some had hot water and others did not. So before you get undressed, double check. Normally the ones by the kitchen had hot water. The ones on the other side of the building did not. The staff ... There was on older gentleman that I think owned the place. He was nice and spoke English but didn't have any tourist information at all. Couldn't tell us where any buses or bus stations were. Didn't have a map. Got the feeling that he wasn't really in it for the guests. There was a girl there also. I think she worked there as she was Greek and always there but she was addicted to a computer game and would barely look up to answer any questions. So, if we ever went to Athens again, I don't know if we would stay there again unless it was the cheapest place and we were coming from Albania. It isn't a bad place but with the possible bedbugs if the buses were dropping off in another area of town, we would probably stay somewhere else. However, we did stay an extra day -- mostly because we couldn't figure out transport to leave for our next destination. Plus the wi-fi was VERY good.
