Hostelz.com's Review
The Graffiti Hostel is probably the cheapest place to stay in Barcelona. It is also the seediest, and when you consider the lack of sleep you'll be getting, it won't seem like such a great deal after all.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Our dorm room was decorated with graffiti and a thick layer of grime, reminiscent of a subway station. Twenty-four beds for men and women are crammed in this room along with two showers. Yes, the showers are right in the room, hidden behind flimsy curtains. Some in our dorm were given blankets. We were not so lucky and had to sleep under moist towels. Small lockers for valuables are free to use.

The bathrooms are an abomination. Crusty old toiletries belonging to backpackers of months past are junked in every cranny, as evidently these facilities are rarely cleaned. The toilets occasionally malfunction and lack toilet paper.

Common Spaces

Just outside the twenty-four-bed/shower room is the terrace, where hip-hop music blasts all night and cigarette butts are littered around plastic chairs. Imagine your worst hangover, and you have some idea of what the TV lounge and kitchen are like. This hostel advertises free internet, and indeed, two computers are available for web browsing (the third being out of order). But when the hostel is filled with forty or so guests, forget ever having a chance to check your email. To top it all off, the hostel managers, a pair of perpetually drunk young men, hit on female guests (as we experienced).

The Location

This hostel is out of the main downtown area, just a block or two from the Encants metro station. We advise saving money on metro rides by springing for a better hostel instead.

Summary

Don't let the cheap price lure you in -- definitely look elsewhere for accommodation, especially if you value privacy or cleanliness. What fun will Barcelona be if you can never get any rest?

5   Good hostel to stay at Relaxed atmosphere with big clean kitchen-common area open till 2 a.m. and big terrace, friendly, happy staff, all dorms have windows and I never had to wait to use the bathroom or shower, if you stay here you will not be disappointed.  ()
5   Extraordinary! Maybe at first you could think that is not for you (the shower in the bedroom). but the Graffiti Hostel is the most, most, most hostel in Barcelona! The guys of the staff are excellent -- they're friendly, helpful, and they ask you going out with them! I feel very satisfied and leave the hostel was very sad! I promise, I want to come back!  , Italy ()
3   Cold showers -- not cool The staff were really nice and welcoming, there was a bit of a mix up with the rooms though. When we were finally put in the correct room it was fine. Our only qualm was with the cold showers.  , Australia ()
