1  Impolite, racist, sexist owner We arrived in the evening, called and had been told to come by. When we arrived at the hostel the younger brother welcomed us very friendly. We checked in and build up our tent. Since we were hungry we asked if we could cook and eat in the garden beside our tent. He said yes. After a while his older grumpy brother showed up and told us that he would turn out the lights in the garden. He would give us a little more time (20min). We were in the middle of cooking. When he came back we were ill eating. He shouted at us, got into an argument, he shouted without listening. We weren't allowed to finish our meal in the tent. He yelled and kicked us out. We weren't loud nor rude. When we left we said good bye very polite. He yelled and threatens that if we do something???!!! We will regret it. I said we would never do anything when he started to call me a Asian slut. We left outraged. As we were leaving outside my boyfriend tried to talk to the father and the younger brother. The didn't bother to apologize nor stop him from cursing me. We were friendly, not rude on purpose. Aggressive and racist owner with no respect and decency to treat their guests.  , uk ()
5  6 & 7th June, '11. We were thrilled to find this place. Mirza and Sid, with their helpful father, do their best to be welcoming and kind. Granted the hostel is not luxurious. It is a simple place but for €12 a night the basics (hygiene, bedroom and location) are exemplary. We felt safe and cared for. It is a huge bonus that Sid is such an erudite guide. For €50, he with brother Mirza as chauffeur, gave us the most in-depth, evocative city tour we've ever had anywhere -- seriously informative for serious visitors to this sad and wonderful city.  , Ireland ()
1  Disappointed! i went there with my friends to celebrate new years eve! i was so disappointed when i found out where will we be settled down! the only good thing is we were close to the center, max 10 min by walk, but every other thing it was a disaster! we were in some basement room, 5 of us! it was too fu***** cold! the toilet was in the other building so in the middle of the night we had to go in our pajamas outside to walk in another building for toilet!! our friend who stayed as well in this hostel, but they got later, they had a 'room' at the top of the other building, in some corridor, they didnt even had their own doors to lock! disaster! it is cheap because it has nothing to serve fr you! its 10 euros for night and is still too expensive for a place like that! dont go there!  , balkan ()
4  Great value for the money Me and my boyfriend were keen to find hostel in Sarajevo with private double room and private bathroom, but most hostels just had dorm rooms! Sartour Hostel has provided us with this rare commodity in their new house for 12 euros per person, which was fair price in comparison to overpriced hotels in Sarajevo. Our stay was improved with lots of snow and romantic and cosy atmosphere winter creates. We would recommend this hostel to couples looking for privacy and rest.  , Germany ()
1  The worst ever! I've arrived to the Sarajevo not as tourist, since I'll stay here three months. Visitors lived in another hostel. This is family business, run by one old disgusting father and his two toadies sons. They have two hostels. Since I planned to stay in Sarajevo longer, I was accommodated in Marin Dvor distinct with three local girls. The hostel isn't quiet at all! My windows were turned to main traffic street side, so it was impossible to sleep! The owners are real liars. It's enough, that they arent able to communicate diplomatically via e-mails. When you read them, you can even feel how they're screaming hysterically on you. I've been told that there is Wi-Fi connection. Well, it's total lie -- no possibilities to catch it. When you enter the building, it very dirty inside! There was no privacy in our rooms. Owners entered to the rooms when they wanted and checked our things. That's why local girls escaped from that hell! Since I'm foreigner, they demanded to leave my passport original to them till I leave! And they tried to convince me, that it's normal in Bosnia! Do not believe them! Nowhere in the world exists such rule! Don't give them your passports in any case. Also they are real discriminators. They do not respect foreigners at all. Mirza, one of the sons, was always speaking with scorn with me, as if he would be be very wise. Another minus was that they always demanded to safe boiler water. And during the night while it was switched off, it was quite cold to sleep. And that boiler was problematic -- after ten minutes of shower, you could start having cold water! My story with them finished when local girls escaped from there and they started to demand my passport. Since I categorically refused, they told me to pack things and leave! So, try to imagine what kind of people they are! Very impolite, cheaters, users, and really very very rude! I wouldn't recommend this hostel even to my enemy! Be aware of them!  , Lithuania ()
4  Ok -- lacks breakfast! Coming from Budapest with night train we did not know what to expect. Hostel people picked us up from train station which was great. Room was spacious, cold at start, but they brought us electric heater soon so this was solved. Had to wait one hour until boiler had warm water, but since we kept it on all the time, this was ok too. Breakfast please! They should offer breakfast. There are a lot of restaurants around, but simple breakfast was hard to find, except in hotels.  , Hungary ()
5  Right place to be for couples and culture interested travelers We have spent a whole morning looking for affordable double room in Sarajevo, and were out of luck. They were all too expensive or far or not clean. Being close to leaving Sarajevo the same day we arrived -- we bumped into reception office of Sartour Hostel and were offered wide variety of double rooms from 10 euros onwards. At first we could not believe it, but the girl working there helped us get a visit to hostel. In the end we took great double room with en-suite bathroom for only 12 euros per person, got free booklet on Sarajevo, and were invited to take a cup of coffee every morning with the owners that took their time to explain us more about the history and culture of the city. And unexpectedly visit to Sarajevo became highlight of our Balkans trip!  , UK ()
1  Thieves We have very bad experience with this hostel. We arrived thirty minutes later than we wrote in an email, because at first it is very hard to find this hostel. There is no sign on the hostel! First they told us that they are full. After the discussion, that we booked the room and thats quite bad that now we haven't any other place, they told us, that they will find something for us and we can go for our car, which we parked in the next street. When we came back, there came one of the two guys who were talking with us, with a phone in his hands. He gave it to us and on the phone was the next guy, telling us that we came thirty minutes later and that is the problem and we have to find something else. We started again, that there is nowhere written, and also we asked if they will take money for the first day. he said yes of course. But at this moment we heard his voice not only from the phone, but also from behind the wall in the garden of this hostel. This bastard was normally hiding before us, then we were yelled out from this place.  , Czech republic ()
1  Rude! My friend and i called this hostel and asked for a private room for two nights and we booked it. They didn't ask for advance money. When we actually showed up there, the guy, who is working at the reception, told us to go and look for other rooms. He didn't want to give us the instructions, how to come to the hostel and he was constantly calling some guy to pick us up and bring us there. He was yelling, "What should I do with them now?" After an hour, the other guy showed up and started to yell even more. "Who do you think you are? I won't send you to the street, only 'cause you have booked! I don't need you two missies, I have enough guests." I was shocked. In one moment I actually thought, he is going to beat us. I asked him, not to yell, there is no need. We asked the other guy for directions to go to the hostel several times, but he insisted, that someone will pick us up. It was one of the most awkward situations I've experienced. We just left and find another place. We never even saw the hostel, but judging on two guys there, I don't want to see it.  , Bosnia and Herzegowina ()
1  Discrimination. They only take Couples, Families (couples with children), and Female Travelers! Bookings made by one or more male travelers will be canceled, and deposit will not be refunded, sorry! Sounds like sexual discrimination here. Maybe managers can learn about equal opportunity.  , australian ()
5  I only have good things to say about Sartour Hostel. The first night we arrived in Sarajevo we stayed in an accommodation that belongs to the another hostel and it was just terrible, the worst you can imagine. The room was dark and dirty, the door was made of yellow glass, so you couldn't have privacy, I had a spider in my bed, and the bathroom was disgusting. Then we went to find another place, and we got to the Sartour Hostel. The two brothers who run it were very nice and friendly, and the rooms were just great — very clean. The hostel is situated in the upper town. It's very quiet and totally safe. We had a guided tour, provided by the brothers, and it was really nice. It made us a lot more aware of what happened and stills happens in Sarajevo. They showed us a lot more than monuments. I'll return for sure. And Sarajevo is an amazing city.  ()
4  I was looking for a place to stay, and found more than that. This is a very good place, with a nice staff, and a nice and cozy atmosphere. I felt very safe, and enjoyed the view from the balcony. I hope I can come back again.  ()
2  One of the owners is completely rude and abrasive. The other is alright actually, and means well. HOWEVER, it's the extras that do my head in. The dubious 2 Euro tourist tax, 3 Euros for linen, 10 Euros for laundry, 10 Euros to use the kitchen, 5/10 Euros for breakfast. I just found it ridiculous. This place is fine in all other aspects though, and the walk up the hill from the main square isn't far, and it guarantees a quieter night away from the traffic.  ()
4  Nice and clean, directly in the center, nice staff - always in for a good chat, and pretty informative about conditions and history of the city. I'd like to return some day.  ()
