Right place to be for couples and culture interested travelers
We have spent a whole morning looking for affordable double room in Sarajevo, and were out of luck. They were all too expensive or far or not clean. Being close to leaving Sarajevo the same day we arrived -- we bumped into reception office of Sartour Hostel and were offered wide variety of double rooms from 10 euros onwards. At first we could not believe it, but the girl working there helped us get a visit to hostel. In the end we took great double room with en-suite bathroom for only 12 euros per person, got free booklet on Sarajevo, and were invited to take a cup of coffee every morning with the owners that took their time to explain us more about the history and culture of the city. And unexpectedly visit to Sarajevo became highlight of our Balkans trip!

Thieves
We have very bad experience with this hostel. We arrived thirty minutes later than we wrote in an email, because at first it is very hard to find this hostel. There is no sign on the hostel! First they told us that they are full. After the discussion, that we booked the room and thats quite bad that now we haven't any other place, they told us, that they will find something for us and we can go for our car, which we parked in the next street. When we came back, there came one of the two guys who were talking with us, with a phone in his hands. He gave it to us and on the phone was the next guy, telling us that we came thirty minutes later and that is the problem and we have to find something else. We started again, that there is nowhere written, and also we asked if they will take money for the first day. he said yes of course. But at this moment we heard his voice not only from the phone, but also from behind the wall in the garden of this hostel. This bastard was normally hiding before us, then we were yelled out from this place.

Rude!
My friend and i called this hostel and asked for a private room for two nights and we booked it. They didn't ask for advance money. When we actually showed up there, the guy, who is working at the reception, told us to go and look for other rooms. He didn't want to give us the instructions, how to come to the hostel and he was constantly calling some guy to pick us up and bring us there. He was yelling, "What should I do with them now?" After an hour, the other guy showed up and started to yell even more. "Who do you think you are? I won't send you to the street, only 'cause you have booked! I don't need you two missies, I have enough guests." I was shocked. In one moment I actually thought, he is going to beat us. I asked him, not to yell, there is no need. We asked the other guy for directions to go to the hostel several times, but he insisted, that someone will pick us up. It was one of the most awkward situations I've experienced. We just left and find another place. We never even saw the hostel, but judging on two guys there, I don't want to see it.

Discrimination.
They only take Couples, Families (couples with children), and Female Travelers! Bookings made by one or more male travelers will be canceled, and deposit will not be refunded, sorry! Sounds like sexual discrimination here. Maybe managers can learn about equal opportunity.

I only have good things to say about Sartour Hostel. The first night we arrived in Sarajevo we stayed in an accommodation that belongs to the another hostel and it was just terrible, the worst you can imagine. The room was dark and dirty, the door was made of yellow glass, so you couldn't have privacy, I had a spider in my bed, and the bathroom was disgusting. Then we went to find another place, and we got to the Sartour Hostel. The two brothers who run it were very nice and friendly, and the rooms were just great — very clean. The hostel is situated in the upper town. It's very quiet and totally safe. We had a guided tour, provided by the brothers, and it was really nice. It made us a lot more aware of what happened and stills happens in Sarajevo. They showed us a lot more than monuments. I'll return for sure. And Sarajevo is an amazing city.

I was looking for a place to stay, and found more than that. This is a very good place, with a nice staff, and a nice and cozy atmosphere. I felt very safe, and enjoyed the view from the balcony. I hope I can come back again.

One of the owners is completely rude and abrasive. The other is alright actually, and means well. HOWEVER, it's the extras that do my head in. The dubious 2 Euro tourist tax, 3 Euros for linen, 10 Euros for laundry, 10 Euros to use the kitchen, 5/10 Euros for breakfast. I just found it ridiculous. This place is fine in all other aspects though, and the walk up the hill from the main square isn't far, and it guarantees a quieter night away from the traffic.

Nice and clean, directly in the center, nice staff - always in for a good chat, and pretty informative about conditions and history of the city. I'd like to return some day.
