Hostelz.com's Review
Prague Lion Hostel is a great hostel that is open all year in the old town in Prague near Vltava and only ten minutes on foot to the Charles Bridge. The price is very low for what the hostel offers, you have much more than the basic things that are to be expected from a hostel for that price, and the place is extremely clean.

The Location

There is plenty to see in Prague so the hostel has the perfect location -- it can can hardly be better as it is close to the center, close to the old town, and not far from the Charles Bridge. All major sites are within walking distance. If you come by train or bus, you need to catch a tram and get off at some of the nearby stations. It will take you about ten minutes to do that; then you need to walk about ten minutes. Even walking from the train station is not that bad -– about forty-five minutes. There are also good transportation options to the airport.

Rooms and Bathrooms

At Prague Lion Hostel, you can choose between dorms and private rooms; these are very clean well furnished and they give you blankets and linens (which are replaced regularly). The beds are very nice and the rooms are extremely spacious. If you are in two- or three-bed rooms, you'll feel more like you're in a hotel than a hostel. There are no lockers but there is plenty of space to leave your luggage. You have a coffee machine and utensils in the room. Some even have a fridge as well as a balcony.

There are many bathrooms, all of which are clean, big, modern, and not slippery. There are more than enough showers and toilets. You will almost never have to wait long to use the facilities and that is not common for many hostels.

Common Spaces

There is no common room and you cannot actually meet many people from the hostel. The atmosphere at Lion is more like a hotel, so if you are with a larger group, it is a great place, but if you try to socialize with strangers, this is not your place. It is definitely not a party hostel, but if you need some rest from all the parties in Prague, this could be the place for you. Other amenities include a washing machine and dryer, a nice computer and Wi-Fi, and a kitchen (not the best facilities, but it is still ok.

Summary

Overall, the hostel is very nice and you receive a great deal for your money. We would definitely go there if we visit Prague again. Just remember that reception is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., so be sure arrive within this time period, and check-out is at noon. Another good thing is that there is no deposit.

3   Dated, worn, and smelly toilets! The bed was comfortable enough and having wifi was great, but the toilets smelt like they were backed up and the bedding was worn through. The pillows were flat, the cases had rips and they'd used two single sheets to cover the double bed! was fine for one night.  ()
