Just lovely! Warm, friendly, generous owner/staff, fab accommodation We just loved this place! On our arrival the staff were warm and welcoming and literally bent over backwards to be helpful. We arrived drenched and covered in sand and were immediately shown where we could sort our clothes out. They even handed them back to me all neatly dried and folded after I'd forgotten about them because I'd relaxed as soon as I got there. Our suite was decorated to a really high standard and was lovely and warm despite the atrocious weather outside. The food in the restaurant was scrumptious and perfect portions, and yes they do have a childrens menu. My seven-year-old was more than happy with his choices. The breakfasts were generous and tasty and with a bottomless coffee pot we were well set up for a the day. The atmosphere of the place is very warm and relaxing and I really feel like I had a treat being taken care of as well as I was. I would say that the best thing about Whitesands has got to be the owners and staff. They are all just such lovely people. Real people people. They like to have a laugh and a chat and I feel like I've made friends there. I will definitely be back again and can't recommend it enough!

Nightmare Beautiful place, good value, nice food, and well decorated. however the owners are absolute pyschos. from the start Terri (joint owner with husband) was rude, unwelcoming, and bad tempered. Her husband Darren was nice and smiling. However on the last night it turned into chaos, Darren started hanging round us and started coming on to seventeen-year-old girls. Then we heard banging in their room above the TV room, terri later ran out crying and hobbling and shouting that we'd got her beaten up. He then chased after her and they started fighting on the street. The police then came and settled it out. On top of this the other staff were hostile and unpleasant.

After staying here for three nights I really had the utmost respect for the dedication and professionalism shown by the owners who did in fact bend over backwards to create a great environment for their guests. These people are two of the nicest people you will ever meet and this place does not deserve the seething views of guests who obviously can't have fun. The food is exceptional and the rooms are out of this world. Who can complain about paying £10 for fresh barbequed sea bass and unlimited salad available from 1 p.m. onwards into the evening? I will go there again and again.

Staying at the white sands lodge nearly destroyed our anniversary holiday, the room was very nicely decorated, but the prices are very high compared to what you get, the restaurant is not so good, and again with very high prices, breakfast was appaling. But the worst thing, which makes everything else seem like a compliment almost, is that when, on the second night, we pointed the landlady's attention to the fact that the restaurant's music is very loud and is clearly heard in all the rooms upstairs we were attacked verbally and physically by her partner and barman. needless to say we highly recommend to everybody to stay way clear of this place.

We have just returned from our holiday here and have to say that there was nothing to complain about! The rooms were beautiful, as was the restaurant and the food. The garden area was gorgeous and location great. The best thing about our stay however were the owners -- never have we had the pleasure of staying at a hotel with such warm friendly owners. We felt more like friends of the family than paying guests, and they bent over backwards to make our stay as wonderful as possible. We loved every minute of our stay -- and the cat! -- one of us had even been to the hostel under its previous management and found no cause for negative comparison at all -- quite the opposite in fact. We will defintiely be returning as soon as we can. We would highly recommend this hostel/hotel to anyone who wants high quality accommodation and a warm welcoming atmosphere.

It used to be a wonderful, relaxed, and friendly place. The new owners are awful, rude, and money grabbing. It is self catering, but has a tiny kitchen between about thirty people. All the communal areas which used to be so comfy have been shrink or have been taken over by the owners and were cold. It is self-catering but we were told once we were there that we had to buy all of our booze from them, and they tried to confiscate it! One of our families were told they needed supernanny to sort out their kids. The playroom stank of smoke and was littered with cig butts, there was no childrens menu. When I let them know their cat was eating their bbq meat (£12 a steak), he said I had a dark streak and how dare I talk to him like that in his lodge. The restaurant was very expensive for Cornwall, and trying (not very sucessfully) to be posh. We had a good time, but that was despite, not because of the lodge. Do not touch with a barge pole.
