The Hostelz.com Review
Globe Backpackers Exeter is a decent place to stay for a couple nights or for a longer period of time. Staff are friendly and you have what you need.
The Location
This hostel is conveniently located in city center -- a short walk to bus and train stations, the Cathedral, and the Quay. There is no parking -- the "pay and display" municipal lot is very close by, but across a busy street. This lot is free 6 p.m. to 8 a.m., but parking during the day could be costly.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms are adequate with sufficient space but could use more lighting. Lockers are located on the first floor. The carpeting needs to be replaced in some rooms and hallways.
The bathrooms facilities are ok. There are gender-separate showers and toilets on dorm floors (in addition to the coed toilets on the first floor, which are handy while in the common areas). The showers have a hook hanging outside the shower curtain where you can hang your towel -- there is no real privacy for getting dressed. There is an area in at least one bathroom where you can leave shampoo and a rack is set up in one of the shower stalls to leave your towel to dry.
A big area for improvement is the shower curtains, which are filthy -- they need to be replaced and then cleaned regularly with bleach to kill the mildew. Cleanliness overall could be improved in rooms and bathrooms, but it is tolerable.
Common Spaces
There are a couple common areas on the first floor, providing an opportunity to socialize if you want to. These seem mostly quiet, but with people about using the common areas. One common area is located next to the kitchen and has a table for eating, a couple sofas, games, books, and Wi-Fi. There is no computer, so you need to have your own laptop. Another common area is the TV room. Also on the first floor are coed toilets, lockers, some brochures, and the front desk. You can leave your laundry with the front desk to be washed and dried.
You can prepare meals in the self-service kitchen, which is stocked with complimentary coffee, tea, and spices. There are plastic baskets you label with your name and use to store dry goods on the common pantry shelves and/or in the refrigerator.

Overall, Globe Backpackers provides decent facilities with friendly staff, but could benefit from improved cleaning and maintenance.

It's a good place for staying I find that I am comfortable to stay here. I enjoy the people and can have a good time. It is a nice place to stay in the city and you are near to everything.
