Wanna feel living in a jail? You must be in this place, They made so much rule make u have nothing to do, just smoking and space out, no money in your pocket. thought u had a job from the owner, just support to pay the rent, not for saving, no wi-fi, No Alcohol, so u just can drink coke (if u still have money after u pay $130/w with NO JOB) and camera every to record ur behave bcz u pay $50 deposit for it, everything have price here. and is so inconvenient to go to the city ... so far and no transport here, the only one supermarket(IGA) here just closed few days ago. The BEST thing here is u can meet NICE people, THAT'S IT! — Anonymous , Taiwan (2012-01-16)
DONT DO IT! THE GUY WHO RUNS THIS PLACE IS FULL OF SHITE! He will tell some of you there is rooms available when there isn't and he will tell you all that jobs are on offer when they are NOT. We arrived after receiving email confirmation that we would have work & after calling on numerous occasions to check we would be able to work straight away, to being told on arrival there was NO WORK! $130 dollars to stay in a 12 bed dorm for a week and no refund if you want to leave earlier. We decided not to check in and then some other guys who he had just told he had no vacancies asked if they could have our spot then and he said no because he had made too many reservations! How many people do you think ended up stranded that day!!?!?!?! We went to Mcdonalds next door and it was full of disappointed stranded backpackers! The guy is a complete ARSE HOLE! Seriously DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! — Danielle , UK (2012-01-07)
RIP OFF MECHANTS It wasn't until i got put in contact with another chap Ben who offered accommodation for around half the price of the shepparton backpackers hostel and drove our group to work out of courtesy that made me gobsmacked how that hostel behind a carwash could call themselves a legitimate business! Feel free to try the hostel at your own peril. — Sarah , Canada (2012-01-01)
DON'T STAY AT THIS HOSTEL ! DO NOT STAY AT SHEPPARTON BACKPACKERS MOTEL! (hostel) it is nothing like the pictures shown on its website and they
get you in contact with cash work that will not contribute to a
second working holiday visa. They also do not offer a refund on rent
which is also not up to standard... I am currently in contact with
consumer affairs on the matter. The place is horrible with no cooling and shepparton gets 40+ degrees... It is at least 3 kms from the town centre and i'm sure the place used to be an old folks home or vet surgery. Noone there looks like they want to be there and it is more expensive than other places close to it. The kitchen and rooms are horrible.Too expensive for one night and you wont get your money back for a weeks stay when you wanna get out on day 2... If you want a pleasant travelling experience, DON'T STAY THERE! and the owner is a jerk! — chris , australia (2011-02-02)
Total ripoff me my friend stranded in shepparton and were happy to get a bed in this hostel but it turned out to be a total ripoff. the staff is unfriendly, rude, passive, and constantly accusing you to owe them money even though you have a receipt for any payment you made. they just have no clue of how the job is done. even though the website says there are jobs available they won't give you any contacts and lead you on to wait for another couple of days just to make money. if you can stay somewhere else, just do it. — Anonymous , france (2011-01-29)
Very Poor Stayed only one night here, Staff are not helpful and very slow. only a couple of showers between many people and all very badly looked after. Internet is to slow to use and there is nothing else to do there. The people I met were all lovely and friendly but all had the same view on the hostel. The work on their board was for next month and the backpackers had already said how unreliable the contractors are and some did not get paid for a week of work they did. Overall not somewhere i would recommend! — Anonymous , UK (2011-01-26)
Crap The worst hostel ever. Staff is passive and seems like they are on drugs or smtg. we stayed there only one night, but we paid for the week, we wanted our money back, and of course nothing. but we still left. We could not stay there for the whole week. And if you wanna work there, only in your dreams. — Joe (2010-02-17)
Disgraceful This hostel itself is not so bad. It is generally clean and there is quite a good vibe between backpackers. But thats about all you can say. It is the staff that is the problem. They are very slow and unhelpful! It took about 2 hours to check in. On the site it says they have a network of farmer which they dont, when you ask them about work they constantly say it will be next week they just lie and lie and lie. Like i say the hostel is bearable but if you are looking to get work dont rely on these idiots you will have to find it yourself. — N/A , UK (2010-01-13)
Go stay on a farm Dodgy cleaning, organising, and badly trained staff most the time. Well not enough staff full stop. They mean well though. They'l charge u so much for transport and accommodation. Your better off staying on a farm to save money. Look in the Yellow pages for a job! Under 'Farms' and 'Packing sheds' Its all they do! But be careful where you stay. Better to be in a pair for this! If you're up for a adventure and money ripped off then sure go for Shepparton backpackers, Otherwise go stay on a farm! — Honest , Germany (2010-01-05)
Terrible By far the worst hostel i have ever stayed in -- thank god it was only for a night. We arrived by train and rang the hostel they told us it was only a few minutes walk down the road it was actually three kilometers. So my boyfriend and i proceeded on a roasting hot day with backpacks. Then when we got there the staff were crap -- all they did was stand around chatting. Then when we went to look at our room it was in the separate part -- it had no lock on the door and no bed so we had to sleep on the floor. in fairness they did give us clean sheets and a blanket. Then when it got dark we realised we had no light in the room, i went to reception had to hang around waiting while the guy who was in charge (a backpacker) had a chat with his mates. then he decided to help me. — Lisa , Ireland (2009-03-23)

Good and Bad You're looking for work right? That's the only reason to come here. Great vibe! It's super fun because it's more like a giant homeshare then a hostel. But that also means that it can get a bit messy. Workers beware! There are a few regular contractors who come in and offer cash-in-hand jobs. Only take these jobs if you are desperate for money. It's illegal work so they can't sign your second holiday visa paper. Also there are a couple who got reputations for harassing the girls and making them uncomfortable. Finding work can be frustrating because the receptionist chooses himself who gets what jobs, and is totally unfair about it. — Brad Deloy , Canada (2008-12-11)
