Private cave rooms are also available as are private, two-room suites. Private rooms come in two styles and are comfortably and tastefully decked out with blankets, and knick-knacks. All private rooms have wonderful tiled bathrooms, with large mirrors, huge hot showers (with screens), and basins. Towels are provided and bathrooms are clean. Rooms are not serviced everyday but the prices reflect this.
Outdoor communal space is huge with upper and lower decks providing ample seating and glorious views across the town. In summer, the lower deck is fitted out with ottoman low cushioned bench style seating to creating a great sense of ambiance. There is an indoor communal area with tables and bench seats and a pot belly stove in winter. This also houses a TV with cable and the internet (access to which is free, although with only one computer, it could be competitive in peak times!). Star Cave also does food at reasonable prices and they are happy for guests to bring their own alcohol onto the premises -- a nice bonus!
To get to Star Cave from the Goreme otogar, simply ask for a free pick up from the accommodation office or head up to the intersection (uphill) turn left and head along until you see the signs. While Star Cave is a little further than some of the other hostels, it has a much more relaxed and friendly vibe. The owners are happy to hook you up with tours, but don't force them down your throat. Give it a go before everyone else finds it!
