Brilliant and relaxing A completely different accommodation experience. The chilled out atmosphere helped us relax and unwind. Unfortunately, never met Jonas but had a great time in Amsterdam. Excellent directions, within easy walking distance of the sights and station. Nice muesli!

We had an excellent stay at Jonas Houseboat! Our room was always quiet and a good place to relax. We had used the kitchen to make breakfast on the stove and woke up to a nice warm shower. We highly recommend Jonas Houseboat and the next time we are in Amsterdam we will be definitely be staying there.

I stayed at the houseboat from 13th October 2006 to 16th October 2006. I found the doors on the bedroom locked perfectly. The fridges in the bedroom are silent. The toilet was in working order, and the water in the bathroom was hot.
It is Jonas' home, so he is around, but I found him friendly and unobtrusive. The houseboat is what it is, a home to Jonas and his son, and a friendly, welcoming place to lay your head.

My eight-year-old son and I stayed at Jonas Houseboat a few years ago (before the fire) and we loved it! We had the use of the kitchen whenever we wanted, it was convenient to the city, the owner was down-to-earth and friendly and had a son my son's age who even spoke English! A wonderful, peaceful, floaty, friendly introduction to Amsterdam, and we would certainly stay there again.

I stayed on Jonas' houseboat from the 12th to the 14th of October 2005. I would NEVER visit again, and would urge anyone considering staying here to reconsider. Why? Try these for starters:
1. Toilet doesn't flush.
2. Cold running water only.
3. No kitchen.
4. No lounge area.
5. Your bed will be atop a couple of fridges.
6. Jonas is likely to appear at any moment of the day or night.
7. Bedroom door did not lock.
8. The outside area is reminiscent of Steptoe's Yard.
9. Really noisy from trains passing at all hours.
10. Boat has got SEVERE fire damage.
If the 10 points mentioned above haven't put you off, then please do visit Jonas houseboat, but bear in mind the old adage "you get what you pay for."

We had a GREAT time on the houseboat. It is very comfortable and clean, and has the coolest bathroom I have ever seen. Jonas is a talented designer and a wonderful host who is friendly and helfpul when you need him, then disappears at just the right time.
