Situated just a two minute walk from the centre of Kuching, B&B Inn is ideal as a base for checking out the city. It is a fifteen-minute taxi ride from the airport or an hour by bus (we would suggest a taxi as it is not the easiest place to find)
The hostel occupies the first and second floors of the building next to the Borneo Hotel. To be clear, this is budget accommodation. The staff are very friendly and helpful though. They arrange tours and the like for you and give you a town map. You must take off your shoes upon entering but socks may still be worn. The place is clean and the floors mopped a few times during the day.
The kitchen is at one end of the first floor and doubles as a TV lounge at night. There are not many tables or chairs for eating, though, which makes it a bit uncomfortable unless meal times are staggered. Breakfast is included, which is incredible considering the low price of a bed. It is only toast and jam or honey, but hey, it's free (they also offer free coffee during your stay).
There are two toilets, three sinks, and three showers to use in the bathroom. The water temperature and pressure are variable -- hot as a trickle and freezing with pressure. As for the rooms, they are basic. They have beds and a fan and get incredibly hot at times. You can open the windows, but then bugs come in. Most rooms also have a plug socket so recharging phone or camera batteries is possible. The beds are comfortable enough, although being on a main street means you shouldn't expect a lay-in -- the noise begins around 7 a.m.
You can leave your luggage here for a very small fee and the staff will wash clothes for you if asked. We would stay again.
