Mostar turned out to be a great surprise and a wonderful city. The famous old bridge was destroyed during the war in 1993, but rebuilt about 10 years later with the same techniques as the former old bridge. It brings back the connection between the Christian and the Muslim side of the city. Around the old bridge are lots of old houses that host shops, restaurants and bars. On weekends during the summer people from all around go to Mostar to party between the restored buildings, but also in the shot down ruins that are still all around the city. The war is over and even though you can still clearly see the remains of it, the residents have moved on and made Mostar a great city.
There are several beautiful must - see places around Mostar.

Big spacious room with fresh towels. The hostel was also very clean and reasonably close to the bus station and old town. Staff were also very friendly.

The owners of this place are just so friendly and helpful! The older lady might not speak any english (only Bosnian and German), but she is still such a lovely host. She made sure I was comfortable and she was very understanding and tried her best to help out even though there sometimes were communication problems. Overall the hostel is very clean. The bathrooms are clean, neat and well-functioning. They also have a nice terrace were you can enjoy a drink or a self-made meal. Although the girl who works there and the younger guy, both speak english and is more than willing to help you out. I really enjoyed my stay, and would stay again for sure.

An easy walk from the train/bus station, and ten minute walk from the famous bridge in the old town. The room was clean. There was free internet available. It was ok for one night.

staff collected us from train station and straight away provided us with a double room with ensuite and air con (much needed as was 40degrees). Staff provided us with info on bus departures the next day. Wifi was good. 5-10 min stroll to the bridge passing shops.

Very central, clean and good value for money. The only fault I could find was that the directions on the map weren't so good. We ended up walking quite a distance and asked a number of people where it was before we finally found it.

Although the owner doesn't speak English at all, he is a very kind man. Rooms are very clean and have air conditioning. Place is very close to bus and train station, i.e. 5 minutes by foot.

Great place. Owners don't speak much English, but are incredibly welcoming and nice. Roof-top patio is great both for watching the sunset over the city as well as having a few drinks with new friends. A+++

Definately one of the best places I have stayed. Atmosphere obviously won't be the same as a backpackers in barcelona (as this is a small town) but definatley the place to stay in Mostar. There is even a roof top terrace with quite a few tables and chairs for drinking cheap local red with a view of the mountains. Would come back here again!

Very friendly and helpfull staff. Location was good and the hostel was very clean and well-maintained. They offer very good value for your money, including a good breakfast and a free pick-up from the station.

we really appreciated the warm welcome we received at the bus station and how easy it was to settle into our airconditioned rooms (something we greatly value with this heat). vilasara has an outdoor terrace as well, which gives travellers the perfect opportunity to meet. our rooms were clean and the beds were also very comfortable. the hostel is also centrally located in Mostar... and Mostar is just a beautiful city with the friendliest people. We really enjoyed our stay at Villasara and in Mostar. thanks so much!!

It was more like a private room and not a hostel.
