We are located on a peaceful, quiet hillside with a jungle view right at the heart of Kota Kinabalu, about a 100 metres from the historical Atkinson clock tower and walking distance from Shopping Malls, Supermarkets, Restaurants, Handicrafts outlets, Public Library, Post Office, Signal Hill Observatory Tower and Banks with easy access to public transport such as bus, taxi and the ferry terminal.
We are only 5 minutes walk to the Tourist Information Centre which is located at Gaya Street ~ "The Sunday Street Market". The popular Gaya street market which opens every Sunday is just a street across from our lodge.
We offer FREE adventure and travel tips and provide any assistance and "directions" that any travellers may need. And to ease you from the 'stress' of finding your way, we can help to organise and plan your itinerary for you.

Friendly, quiet, no-frills, very basic accommodation. At first, I thought Traveler's Light would save me some money. Unfortunately, they don't offer as much as the average hostel in KK. So when you add the extra fees that they charge, it ends up costing the same or more than other hostels. They offer A/C rooms for a higher price, but the bed only has a bottom sheet. So you must pay extra for towels, top-sheet, blanket. They do have free wi-fi, but if you have no computer, you need to pay a fee per 1/2 hour using their computer station. They have a T.V. next to the reception desk, but no cable TV channels. Like most hostels in KK, they offer a "breakfast", but this means a couple of pieces of bread with jam and instant coffee. The showers have no shelves; they are quite flimsy. They squeeze 4 bunk beds (for 8 people) into a small room, so that each bunk touches the other and there is only room for 4 people to stand in the middle at once. All in all, it feels like the owner is penny-pinching for maximum profit. Other hostels offer more, with better common areas, and free use of computers. Perhaps because this hostel is not popular, it remains underbooked, and therefore more peaceful. — Mike , USA (2012-01-28)
